I was just wondering if Technique and Power are inverse of each other...

I believe technique is your ability to get to and hold a block. Power would be how much damage you do with that block.

Right, but are they opposite of each other? The same way zone/man is to a CB?

Im not exactly sure what you mean by opposite. In the CB example you're either playing man OR playing zone, I doubt technique and power are an either or like that. They may work independently and compliment each other, but lineman are probably always using both during a block.

I was a little unclear, I'm not even sure what I was asking. Thanks, I appreciate it.

I'm not sure if this is completely true, but my understanding of it is like this.

Technique-getting into position/initiating the block/footwork/staying low
Power- how far back you push them with each hit or get pushed back/how much they are slowed/how much energy and morale they lose

So they work together to help you block.

I don't have any O-line, but I do have a few D-linemen.

I'm sure the two compliment one another, but I look at it like so:

A pass rushing defensive end, agile with great pass rush technique, okay power. You come up against a linemen who went high in "Pass Block Power", you blow by him with a stunt or roll. Against a lineman with good "Pass Block Technique", he locks you up more often than not. The opposite is true with a power rusher. Bull rush a technique lineman, stood up by a power blocker.

I think its unfair to linemen right now. They strive for balance, as they should. With extreme builds defensive ends are going for, I think you're going to see the sacks continue to pile up. Granted it is very early, and should level out in the pro leagues.
