DEFCON 1 13 - 10 Texas City Stings
- This one was a snoozer for the first 3 quarters. Texas City put together a nice drive in the first quarter keyed by a Kristopher Houston 19 yard reception. Chipshot field goal made it 3-0, and there it stayed until the 4th. Queue the flood gates opening. A fumble put Texas City on the Defcon 17, and they quickly took advantage to stretch it to a 10-0 advantage. Defcon responded with a nice drive to kick the first of TWO 40+ yd field goals. They got the ball back, drove down for a touchdown. Finally, with 21 seconds left in the game, Leg Anton knocks through the game winning 42 yd field goal. That's crazy. I had Texas City in this one. Hatemail to a certain kicker mailed en masse and being processed by a Postal Center near Houston, TX as we speak.

Air Raid 49 - 0 Sacramento Billy Goats
- Offensive explosion continues. It's hard to be objective about what I think my team's prospects are this season. Badr Hari had a big receiving game, catching 3 TDs and 159 yards on 10 receptions. This one was close to being even worse on more than a few occasions. Sacramento did a couple of nice things, ran a couple of pitch plays for nice gains. It's just too much to ask for a team with an inactive owner to hang with a excessively overplanned team like Air Raid.

Orlando Crushers 24 - 10 Detroit Revelers
- This was a pretty good game. It was 17-14 when Detroit scored with 3:45 left in the game to make things very interesting. You know how you make things uninteresting? Like this:

http://glb2.warriorgeneral.com/game/replay/16724/411068

That's a solid return at this stage of the game, and totally setup the game icing TD for Orlando with less than 2 mins left in the game. Did you notice the pancakes on that play? Orlando had 24 of them in the game. I'm impressed by the blocking on display down in Central Florida.

Philadelphia Firefighters 17 - 0 Santa Fe Thunder
- Not as explosive in this one for Philly. Only 3 sacks against too. Santa Fe's defense contested a few more balls against them, and Philly had a few more drops than the first game. It all added up to kill a few drives a bit sooner than the Firefighters might have liked. Did you know Philly's given up 0 points so far? The defense is still Beastly. They say Defense wins championships, and the Firefighters held another opponent under 250 yards. Engine 3 had a big night in the backfield, with 3.5 sacks to lead the way.

Fayetville Tarheels 0 - 0 Alantic Tridents
- This is becoming a trend for the Tarheels. Each team had a chance with a reasonably short field goal. And each team also missed longer field goal shots. You really couldn't have played a more even game, It's hard to imagine there wasn't any scoring, but that's how the game played out. Dwayne Ratliffe went absolute beast mode with 5.5 sacks on the day for Atlantic. That's game changer stuff right there.

LUElinks LUEshis 10 - 7 Asau Pirates
- Asau struck early and was immediately countered by LUElinks to make it 7-7 with high scores looking possible by the 6 minute mark of the first quarter. It was not to be though, as both defenses tightened the screws. LUElinks moved the ball noticeably better than Asau throughout the rest of the game, but only went 1-3 on field goals. That one proved decisive though, as Asau missed a couple of makeable sub 40 yard field goals. Halfback Bill Dozer had a very nice game grinding out yardage for the LUEshis, with 68 yards on 13 carries. There were at least 4 double digit gains mixed in that effort.

Still probably too early - POWER RANKINGS WEEK 2
1. Philadelphia Firefighters - Team more like Seattle
2. Air Raid - Team more like the Broncos
3. Defcon 1(+2) - That was a good win against Texas City.
4. Atlantic Tridents - A tie does not hurt, but it does not help either.
5. Texas City(-2) - Tough loss against Defcon 1. I'm not dropping these guys yet. Alpha looks nasty.
6. LUElinks LUEshis(+2) - Beat Asau.
7. Fayetville Tarheels(-1) - Tied Asau.
8. Santa Fe Thunder(+1) - Not a bad game against Philly, but still a 3 score loss. Did better than Orlando in week 1.
9. .Orlando Crushers(+2) - Orlando made marked improvements from that week 1 blowout loss.
10. Asau Pirates(-3) - At some point, you've got to win a game to move up in the somewhat muddy middle ranks.
11. Detroit Revelers(-1) - A good effort and game was closer than it looked, but 0-2 is still 0-2.
12. Sacramento Billy Goats - The poor bastards with no chance in Alpha. Might be better than this, but hard to tell till cross division play starts.

Shameless taunt of Air Raid's next opponent:

DEFCON 1 has 4 cornerbacks. Air Raid has 8 Wide Receivers and runs exclusively 3/4/5WR formations. What's the over under on the point in the game where DEFCONs CBs are on permanent 1 energy status? Ouch. FWIW, I do like DEFCONs defense, I just kinda think it might be a terrible matchup with what we're doing over here.

Yup, he's the only inactive owner in the league so far.
