I am getting this with my FA toons. Seems that I have to spend the 6k in sp's before I can accept a new contract. Is this working as intended?

Yep same as when you make a new toon it makes you spend before signing

It is to keep people from hoarding 200,000 SPs and then assigning them at plateau (one would assume).

Though if you own/GM the team, you can sign without spending, if you send out the contract with the "Auto-sign" box checked.

Makes sense. Only reason I was waiting was wanted to see if team wanted me to spend them in any specific area. Guess that can be decided before signing though.

okay perhaps, but I fail to understand why someone might do that, or why GLB would care if the owner trying to sign the bot doesn't.

There really isn't a good reason. GLB would care because its not their vision for the game, I guess.

It keeps people from holding 200,000 SPs until they see what works in Vet and then copy what works. The limited respec meant that allowing players to hold all of their SPs gave people who weren't playing the game an advantage over those who were (at least in being able to adapt their build, because their start of season build would work out to a five season respec).

Your first 5000 SPs don't mean much in the long run, so it isn't a big deal.
