Sorry JD... what I meant was that chasing pancakes alone wasn't a good idea. Not if it hurts the overall aspect of the build and makes your dot vulnerable to giving up sacks and hurries. Cakes as an aspect of a good build are great. Just gotta be careful of chasing the wrong things. That's what I was trying to say, anyways.

I will give a caveat to that though. If you have an OC that is really good and has a Guard/Tackle/Center that is a cake monster on running plays... but wear as a pass protector... and has access to a second (not really a backup but a specialized player) Guard/Tackle/Center that is weak as a caker and run blocker but awesome as a pass protector... then it doesn't matter if you're building a cake monster.

Centers - no point in building for pancakes, they don't get many regardless. Go for high blocking and agility to deal with pass rushing DTs, who are usually league leaders in hurries.

Guards - High strength and speed will mean a lot of pancakes, which helps tremendously on all those pitch plays.

Tackle - I prefer high strength and agility to balance between pass protection and pancakes. They don't need as much speed.

Some sound stuff. If you are strictly a passing team, the secret is not the OTs as is commonly believed. It starts with a center that wont get crushed. If you pass there, then the guards will do all kinds of stuff, they are the real secret to successful pass blocking. Got to be strong and fast to pick up those outside blitzers. The OT, if pass blocking is your only concern, then you want them blocking closer to the LOS, as close as possible and as far from the QB as possible. Of course, that's actually true of them all, but it's generally the DE or outside blitzer that spooks the QB.

Guards are the least important for pass protection.
