We had two QBs on our team so I dropped one and the agent made another player at a different position. I am unable to sign that player. I have not found anywhere that says I should not be able to sign him. Instead of the offer page showing me the maount of cap space I have left, it just says "Select team...". I just renegotiated a contract yesterday and signed a new player on the 15th. Why would I be able to drop someone but not sign anyone when I have the roster and cap space?

If this is some way to prevent abuse I'd definitely like to hear how signing people in the playoffs can be abused with the chem hit. Sure, maybe you could totally switch up the make up of your team by swapping a bunch of players, but they'd play at a reduced level because of chemistry - and I'm trying to sign ONE guy. If you're scared of teams swapping all their players to try to get a benefit, put a limit to how many drops and/or new signings you can have during the playoffs to like two or three or something. Also, if there is something disallowing signing players in the playoffs, how about we post that somewhere public and make it easy to find so people don't go dropping a few players and totally gimping their team because they can't sign anyone.

Yeah, teams in the playoffs can't sign players. I remember posting that somewhere...I'll add it to Bort's FAQ if it isn't there.

Damn, so this literally happened about 30 minutes before I tried signing a new guy. I'm curious to hear the logic of this. Now there is a guy created that is 93.3% towards a tier that can't get on a playoff team, with availability elsewhere he'll never find a spot. Only option is to retire. Why allow teams to drop that are still in the playoffs if it could gimp them? That is more of an exploity type of thing for the team they are facing than signing a new guy. If it's because the new guys would get a championship achievement when they just signed, an easier and better fix would be to just not allow the achievement unless they are on the team for so long - don't make it so they can't sign on with that team.

I'd say it's because of collusion and bringing in ringers, but I suppose chemistry prevents that from working.

I'd guess this is the key. Networks (whether formal or informal) could try different things at the same position and bring together what appears to be the best combination for the playoffs. Chemistry would make this a risky strategy but its something they have to consider.

You gotta sign 'em the day before the playoffs...

So due to collusion fears, even though we all saw how players played with 0 chem, you can drop a guy but not sign one guy? Now there are two players that will fall behind the pack in experience. Imagine if other teams release a couple more. Put a limit on the amount you can sign in the playoffs if you're scared a bunch of ringers can overcome the chem hit. With this it's blocking everything, including the legit single signings to just add a new player to the roster for depth and to gain a little chem going into next season.

And maybe put a disclaimer for players created within a couple days of the playoffs that they won't be able to sign with a playoff team.
