Three man rush against 2 Olinemen and 3 D players... still gets the pass off.

I've seen AirMcMVP mention it was related to ST depth chart changes he made:

Basically you just give up on making the STs make sense so your oline and dline stay where they belong.

I've been trying to find the cause of this, but it's as elusive as the "random play called not in AI" bug from GLB1.
I can't really pinpoint the exact cause...it seems like it should be energy related if taking them off special teams helps, but sometimes it's on second and third down. The way the play is set up, there should be no way that it pulls a FS to play LG, that should be the last go to...actual guards SHOULD come first even if they have -20000 energy.

I haven't messed with this at all - the only thing I can think of is that somehow the ST DC is making people be eligible for certain positions?
For example, there are spots on the ST DC that GLB2 by default uses a G. But owners are often wanting a Defensive player in that spot, because while they block for the punter, they then run down for the tackle. Somehow, once the D player is placed on the ST chart in that spot, GLB now considers them a "Guard-like" player and pulls them into G positions on other DCs if necessary.

my question is, why would anyone not listed on a depth chart spot even be pulled to that position.
shouldn't it be that the only players it could pull to certain depth chart position only be the players listed there

I think you got it. Think about this though, it pulls the guys from the punt formation, but, it's not pulling the guys from the punt return. I have my blockers on punt returns and it's not making them play D. I think because they are listed as DL1 and DL2. And on the punt team they are list as regular LOT LG etc.

Makes sense, as the only position on my punting team that is o-line is my C, and my C never gets swapped out. I thought maybe it was because the C spot was the only one where I only had a starter and a backup.
But why would the punting formation o-line position cause crossover to the "all o-formation" depth chart?
I'm sending some scrims out with a new O-depth chart that has only a starter and a backup in it for the o-line to see if that fixes it. If it doesn't, I'll try updating my punting DC to put o-line only back in and see if that fixes it. Then I'm going to ask CornBlade to pay me 200 flex for the cost of test scrims.

Confirmed:
When I changed the Punt Formation depth chart to only include O-line players, D players stopped playing on the O-line.
However, it continues to allow players to be pulled from that depth chart. If I have a pass blocking OTs only on the left side in my depth chart, but have both run and pass blocking OTs in the left side of the punting DC, it continues to permit run blocking OTs to be pulled in to the LOT slot in O formations.
