My team is averaging about 12 drops a game. How much freakin catch ball do you need to catch it when your wide open? This does not count the defender is close ones..the straight up drops. Every one of my receivers has over 30 catching now. The drops seems to be getting worse as the season goes on. I have been pumping up my QB with the make ball easier to catch thing. I assume its that and accuracy from the QB side..plus catch ability from WR. Anything else to catch a wide open ball??

pass awareness for qb i believe says his ability to find the open guy..not actually hit him with the ball. if it affects accuracy as well then it should say so.
catch awareness again says his ability to jump or dive at off target balls...which i suppose could help with catching balls of those types...but my guys dont seem to be jumping or diving at the ball much.
My guy with the best hands on the team..40 catching now has the most drops as well..he was designed to be my possession guy.he has like 70 targets in league games with 35 catches and 22 drops or something like that. Very frustrating to have him wide open and drop a ball that looks to be right to him.

receiving consistency says it effects catching the ball in pressure situations..what ever that means/ Is that any third down...or in the endzone..or when it would be a first down if he catches it ..or when the game is on the line..sigh

well, look at some builds with high awareness and you will probably see they do better. high awareness simply means they adjust better to the pass (for wr)

will start pumping catch awareness i guess..though it dont make sense based on description. qb pass awareness is pretty good

My guy seems to be doing Ok and I haven't added a whole lot of sp into catch awareness. I'm going to raise awareness, consistency, and grip together. Going off the descriptions of each they all affect different reasons for drops so together they should work. I started GLB 1 in season 2 I think so there were guides to use for this crap. Sucks not knowing what to do but Its also nice that everyone else is right there with me...lol I Have 40 in catching also.

completely disagree
the description says it helps receivers "react to the location of an errant pass"
please make a reasonable argument for how that wouldn't affect drops
because to me it clearly says that if your qb isnt very good (rookie) and is throwing a lot of bad passes (rookies do that) your receiver will be able to haul in more of them and have fewer go off, say, his knees
it does not say it only gets used to decide when to jump and dive
also, your argument that consistency is hard to pin down when its being used is to me a benefit of the skill, because thats what it should be, a general confidence modifier
it sounds like you need to take a deep breath and work on your receiver awareness

30-40 catching is still low catching.
Receiving awareness and consistency are big. Heart is helpful too.

how much catching should need to not drop a pass when wide open? I agree with you flynn, though with no way of knowing if my pass is "inaccurate" or not its tough to judge its use. I can tell when he dives and when he jumps at a ball. consistency is not a general modifier based on description, it only works in pressure situations according to wording. Maybe it helps some all the time and more as the situation gets more desperate, but thats not what it says.
No sure why help would help, that to me has to do with keeping morale up when things happen. I dont really see morale spiraling downward or anything.

My opinion:
Pass quality is going to degrade the further down the field, so sometimes that is an issue. Short passes, WRs are often unaware of the ball being thrown by the time it reaches them, so that leads to some drops. On target passes also require pass quality to be sufficient... I find that pass power being too high or too low can lead to issues, depending on how far away the intended target is.
As far as WR skills, 37 is the lowest catching skill I have, and that's on an otherwise "speedster" bot. Most of my possession WRs are sitting a lot closer to 50 and 35-45 catch in traffic. My problem is I have an o-line that can't pass block for shit, so when I do need to pass, there's a lot of pressure coming.

Don't neglect Heart. Once a player with low heart drops a pass or two it is difficult to recover from what I've seen. Especially if your team is playing poorly.

Heart isn't about morale spiraling. Heart has to do with eliminating bad rolls. You know, like dropping a wide open pass.
