5 weeks to go until the playoffs, and things are still up in the air. South Otto looks pretty good to win Alpha from here, but that's about the only thing clear. Only 4 teams are truly out of it, leaving us with South Otto, Gotham, SoA, Alpine, and all of Gamma fighting for those 4 spots.

This week, playoff implication games:

South Otto vs Sons of Anarchy - A loss hurts SoA more than it would South Otto, as SoA has Alpine right behind them and could end up in the wild card race.

Zorp vs Gotham - the loser is going to have a hard road to the wild card with possibly 4 teams a game up on them.

The rest of the playoff hopefuls need to take care of business against teams that are looking to play spoiler.

Zorp's 3rd tie may just screw them. Zorp and Gotham are now sitting at 5 wins, with 3 wild card teams ahead of them with 6 wins.

South Otto now just needs 2 wins in the next 4 games to clinch the Alpha championship, and with Big Bone and BUMF on the divisional schedule for the end of the season they are basically a lock. Gotham is a long shot for the wild card, behind the 2nd place Beta team, and all of Gamma - but they have the easiest road for the last 4 games and should go 3-1 at worst.

SoA and Alpine are tied for Beta, but SoA has the head-to-head tiebreaker for now - if that ends up tied, then Alpine has the Points Allowed lead right now at 67-83. Week 12's game between these two could very well decide the division...although both have matchups vs tough Gamma teams in Week 11 first. 9 wins should be enough - and the division might be won with just 8.

Gamma is a clusterfuck. Funday is a game up in the win column over STP and Benitos, and 2 games on Zorp. STP also has one less loss than Benitos thanks to the early season tie, and Zorp is Men's Warehouse with all those ugly ties. This is going to go deep into the divisional rounds to decide who comes out. If I had to bet, I'd take Funday with the game lead, but this division is brutal, and Benitos is the only Gamma team not facing a playoff contender next week. The divisional round may turn into enough of a bloodbath that the wild card comes out of a different division - good news for SoA and Alpine.

Week 11 Playoff implication games:

Alpine vs Funday - Alpine needs to keep pace with SoA, and to have the wild card still open if they do lose to SoA. Funday would really like to enter Gamma divisional play with a game lead rather than tied with anyone. Neither team is out with a loss yet.

SoA vs STP - SoA is in the same boat as Alpine - keep pace and keep hope alive for the wild card, but the division is coming down to their game in week 12. STP needs to be aiming for 9 wins, which means 3-1 down the stretch; drop here and they may have to sweep the hardest division in the league to make playoffs.

Zorp vs South Otto - South Otto is playing for pride, ranking, and perhaps to keep tinkering with the AI; they've got Alpha. Zorp is in a hole and needs either 3-1 with a lot of other games breaking right or a 4-0 finish to the season. I guess 3-0-1 could work out too.

I expect STL and Benitos to get their win and set the pace for the wild cards.

I was going to say good luck all, but I realized I'd really prefer if Funday, SoA, and Zorp all got kicked in the shins by the RNG Gods, so....yeah. May you live in interesting times.

Divisional Winner scenarios:

Alpha: South Otto's magic number is 2.

Beta: Winner of next week's SoA/Alpine game should take it.

Gamma: *throws hands in the air*
Okay but seriously. If Sunday gets to 10 wins, they have it. 2-1 or better and they have the division crown.
If Sunday doesn't get to 10 wins, then either STP or Benitos can take the title with a sweep and 10 wins.
If no one gets to 10 wins, there will be at least 2 teams at 9.
Sunday/STP - Sunday (H2H or points allowed)
Sunday/Benitos - Sunday (fewer losses)
Sunday/Zorp - Zorp (fewer losses)
Sunday/STP/Benitos - Sunday
Sunday/STP/Zorp - Zorp
Sunday/Benitos/Zorp - Zorp
STP/Benitos - STP
STP/Zorp - Zorp
Benitos/Zorp - Zorp

Those last 3 cases require that Sunday goes 0-3 from here, but I'm not discounting anything in Gammaland. And I haven't double-checked anything so I can only hope this is right.

The Dreaded Wildcard:

Alpha: STL will probably finish 8-4-2 or 9-3-2 depending on the South Otto game.

Beta: Beta 2nd place will probably be 8-6, and behind STL.

Gamma:

If Sunday gets 10+ wins, and no one else does, then there's 0,1, or 2 9 win teams behind them. If 0, then there's 2-3 8-win teams.
If two teams get to 10 wins, then Sunday wins the title and second place (STP/Benitos) takes the WC.
If STP/Benitos gets to 10 wins, but Sunday doesn't, there could be 1-2 9 win teams, or it could be 3 8-win teams.
If no one gets 10 wins, then there will be 1-2 9 win teams that don't win the division.

Summary:
If STL goes 3-0, they will win the WC unless STP or Benitos also goes 3-0 and Sunday goes 2-1.
If STL goes 2-1, and Sunday goes 3-0, and the rest of Gamma goes 1-2, then STL is in. Otherwise, they are out. In that case the 2nd place team in Gamma will win the WC.
