I have played probably 6 pick up games so far, so it's not a huge sample, but what I have observed is that the Offense is pass happy, particularly on 2nd down.
Early on, quite a few rushing plays end up with negative yardage, this forces the offense into a 2nd and long. However most conventional wisdom is a running play on 2nd and long is a smart move, as it usually shortens the distance for the 3rd down attempt.
So my suggestion is that in pick up games, the Pass/Rush ratio should be tuned down a bit so that the Pass/Rush ratio isn't so skewed towards pass.
I know Bort lives in Oregon, but everyone can't adopt their offense.
