GLB1 had it's ups and downs, been over there since season 1. But I think the way it is now, you get what you get. Str HBs dominate. You can make an INT machine CB who misses a ton of tackles, a Blocking TE that gets pancakes but rarely gets a catch, a speed DE that gets sacks but a liability in the run game, a coverage LB that gets steamrolled but can cover, etc. Resetting VAs and advanced OC and DC controls are fun for running a team.
GLB2 comes along, and looks like a simplified, streamline process of building players and running teams. Very easy to distinguish between a power DE vs. Speed DE...blocking TE vs. receiving TE. Scat FB vs. blocking FB, hard hitting SS vs. cover SS...BUT, in creation only.
See, the play on the field in GLB2 does not mimic the way the players are built. I see power SSs not creating a single fumble all season, Blocking TEs leading their team in catches, and strength OTs getting pancaked by speed DEs...also have seen a blocking FB with 4 yards per carry average and gets revcaked more than generating pancakes.
I've also seen non-boosting players, with no points committed to abilities perform better than boosting players.
Right now, except for blitzing/pass rushing DEs and LBs...it feels like we're just spinning our wheels making guys. Adding points to stuff that sounds good...but really just doesn't make a difference.
GLB2 looks good on the surface, but the nuts and bolts just don't seem to be tightened with code. Will keep trying, and adding points to stuff that sounds good...in the hopes it gets fixed.
