It would be nice to have a calculator/script to help plan GLB2 builds ahead of time.

I don't have much coding experience, but I do know how to waste time with Excel/simple math.

I spent some time figuring out how SP cost is calculated for various skills. I have the basic math down, but a LOT of work needs to be done and I can't do this alone. PM me if you are curious and/or willing to help (either with math or coding). Thanks!

Ex.
Total SP cost of Sprinting to 90
Min. weight TE

10 Speed: ~82,400
8 Speed: ~83,800

SP cost of Sprinting to 90
Min. weight TE (with 10% SP cost reduction due to traits like Egotist/etc)

10 Speed: ~74,400
8 Speed: ~75,600

Numbers are approximate (yes, it isn't exactly a 10% reduction)
(FYI: Min weight HB with 10Speed would cost ~74,000 SP... even without any sprinting reduction traits )

Yes, let's all mathematically ruin this game as quickly as possible!

But, seriously... it would be nice to get an idea of how many points it will take to max out something, and which Traits have the most impact as far as reducing costs, etc. Hurry up already, nerds!

You are saying that you do not want a player builder? This is a very good idea

It's going to happen... just a matter of time.

Will pretty much kill building imo. But I know it is gonna happen.

For once, I agree with bhall.

It's obviously going to happen, hell you can do it with simply editing a value or two.

Not sold that it kills building, though. It's not like you get to see how that player will actually function.

It kills building in the sense that certain styles will eventually emerge that are deemed superior to everything else.

Won't be very long before people know the attributes they are aiming to ramp up and this will give you the best way in achieving that end build. It certainly doesn't make building more fun by any means. Especially when building is already as simplistic as it is.

The problem is no one (except for testers, I guess) knows what kind of skill values are possible at plateau.

Sure, it's nice to brag that your HB is 10/9/9 for Speed/Agility/Strength whatever, but just because you have nice max caps doesn't mean they are attainable while still maintaining reasonable values in the rest of your skills.

At the very least it's useful to know that you wasted your initial attribute points by taking Speed to 10. If you get 200k SP over your career, but it costs 100k to max out Sprinting....

That is what I mean. Kinda takes a lot of the fun out of it. As far as knowing what is attainable for builds everyone will see. I really am not entirely sure since some of the traits were changed a bit.

Some people are planners, others like to live on the edge.

Definition of "fun" isn't set in stone

Planners are hilarious, especially when their plans fall apart and they lose their minds.

A good build will be discovered based on what works on the field.

I remember the early days of GLB when Gordon James was racking up 150 sacks a season, and the goal was to try to figure out what Gordon James was doing . . . At some point it became about max attributes and ALG's and "is my skill point penis bigger than yours?"

I am hoping a bit of mystery is kept close to the vest this time around.
