Every team has a rating, based off of performance in League and Ladder games. On the off day, teams get their matchup scheduled for Ladder Day, and they will be facing a team "near" them in the Team Rankings. This is a way to help make sure you get competitive games outside your league, and also helps set up bragging rights for what leagues are better and so forth. And, of course, what's the best team - the team with the best rating is going to have a good claim to that.
You can't see your team's actual rating, but you can see the ranking. For now, there are a lot of ties - that's how the system works when starting with new teams. That will sort itself out soon enough as teams start to have a varied record. Look to about week 4 or 5 and you should have very few tied rankings.
