The rankings are back, folks. I'm looking across ALL THREE leagues and looking at things like: last season's record, team's effective level, team APV, key wins from last season, and tournament results from last season.

I have a listing of 52 teams that are qualified to make my pre-ranking list. However, I will only concentrate on the top 25 teams, updating them hopefully every two days once the season begins. If you get the itch to ask where your team is viewed in my opinion, feel free to PM me, and I'll let you know where you're standing in the eyes of this guy.

Without further ado, here are my Preseason top 25 entering the Season 38 of University League play.

You will see: Rank - League - Team - Record

1. (1W) Ljubljana SuperStar AlpDevils (0-0)
Well, everything the AlpDevils wanted to do last season, quite frankly, they accomplished. They finished a perfect 20-0 winning the Gold in Prep 2 and took home the Gold in both the GLB tournament and TOC tournament. They sit firmly as the team to beat not just in Elite 1 Western, but the entire league.

2. (1E) Bastard Sons of Westeros (0-0)
With an APV of 604, they take home the honor of being the highest effective level team in all of University. They are also the only team to have beaten the AlpDevils last season, albeit in a non-ranked scrimmage, 10-7. They've got their hands full in a tough 1E league this season, but they are without a doubt, the early favorites in the East.

3. (1W) Morning Glory (0-0)
After finishing season 37 with a disappointing loss to the Rush, they look to rebound and compete for Elite 1 Gold this season. But in order to get a chance in the gold game, they've got to get through the AlpDevils. The Glory are one of only a few teams that can knock them off of their pedestal. Very nice looking team headed into this season.

4. (1E) Newark Nomads (0-0)
After finishing 19-1 and getting a silver medal in prep 1, they go out and improve their team's APV from 551 to 573 (the 2nd highest APV jump in all of University). They cruised to a perfect 16-0 record in the regular season, before losing 6-0 to Westeros in the gold championship game. They are one of 10 teams in the Eastern conference that have legit title aspirations.

5. (1E) Controlled Kaos (0-0)
After finishing 17-2 last season, it's clear who the Kaos view as their #1 rival. Westeros were responsible for both of their losses (including a 12-0 defeat that knocked them from the playoffs). Damn you Bastards!

6. (1E) Gotham Rogues (0-0)
Gotham finished 18-2 while picking up the Silver medal in prep 2 last season, losing to the AlpDevils. Their other loss was a concerning one to the Boondock Bears (now CPU team) in a shootout. They've also got some questions with a smaller roster, but this power running team is deserving of their #6 ranking after a great season.

7. (1E) University of Defense (0-0)
Perhaps a dark horse to win the Eastern conference this season, you can be sure Bane wants to win. They played the #1 team very well last season and would love to meet them again this season for sure. They picked up a 3rd place trophy in the TOC tournament last season.

8. (1W) STEEL Voodoo (0-0)
After starting 3-4 last season, they rebounded to win their next 11 games, including a 13-10 playoff upset over the Knights. They've got a very strong EL going into season 38 and are perhaps a little overrated in my rankings, but I'm confident they'll be a tough out for every team they face this season.

9. (1E) Dot Cartel Stole My Flex! (0-0)
Cruising through a weak prep 3 last season, they finished 20-0 with a Gold medal victory over the San Diego SkyRockets, 20-17. They are sure to have their hands full this season with the opponents being MUCH stronger this season. They will be a team I watch to see how they respond from game to game.

10. (2A) Dark Phoenix (0-0)
Easily the best University 2 team, they've got to be feeling snubbed to the nth degree here. They finished a strong 12-4 in the regular season before losing out to U of D, 23-20. They've got a few teams to hold off, but they're the early favorites for University 2 Gold. They also added a Bronze GLB tournament trophy, and a Gold Growl tournament trophy to their case.

11. (1E) Indianapolis Rush (0-0)
After finishing 16-3 last season and improving their roster, it's a shame there wasn't room for them inside of the top 10. The East is looking to be the stronger of the two conferences, so they'll have their hands full not only to host a playoff game, but just to get into the playoffs! They also picked up Silver in the GLB prep tourney, so they know how to win big games.

12. (1E) Death Rabbits (0-0)
Finished 14-3 last year with a rough loss to Brethren in the 1st round last season. With their season ending early, they look to stay inside the top 15 this season in a once again, very tough Eastern conference.

13. (1E) Bone Crushers (0-0)
Some how, some way, I have them ranked as the 9th team in the East. I'll continue to reiterate, a couple deserving teams from the East is going to be left out of the playoffs due to the high competition. This will make for a very important REGULAR SEASON. Yes, I said it, the regular season is going to actually mean something!

14. (1W) Rokkie Team (0-0)
Cruising to a record of 17-2, their only losses came to Gotham last season. They are another team that went out and improved its roster, upping its APV by 13 points. Let's hope their team chemistry doesn't effect any game outcomes. They were winners of the Bronze medal in the Growl tournament last season.

15. (1E) Beer Squirts (0-0)
One of only three teams to finish a perfect 20-0, the Beer Squirts completely owned prep 4 last season. They've earned my respect and they are going to quickly earn the respect of Elite 1.

16. (2Z) New Orleans Gurupies (0-0)
The Gurupies are my early favorites to win Zelta in Univ 2. They will be mightily tested by Manchester, Detroit, among others. They're a team that went out this offseason and upgraded some positions as they look to obtain a Silver/Gold trophy in University 2 this season.

17. (1W) KC Knights (0-0)
The Knights are a team that didn't have much trouble - until they ran into the VooDoo in the playoffs. They finished 15-3 and have a rather low APV.

18. (2Z) Detroit Resevoir Dogs (0-0)
The R-Dogs are a team that can shoot up these rankings if they take care of business in Univ 2 this season. They held their own last season and are a team I would have liked to seen in Elite this season.

19. (1W) Brethren Krewe Six Pounders (0-0)
One of only a few teams to finish with 7 losses last season, they are on a mission to prove they belong in Elite. They earned their way here with a 1st round playoff victory over the Death Rabbits. They were then eliminated with a 34-0 loss to the Kaos in round numero dos.

20. (2A) Las Vegas White Tigers (0-0)
LVWT are a team that probably belong in Elite, but have to work their way there this season. They've got a very respectable APV and are a team that can realistically win Gold.

21. (1W) Legacy's Huntington Beach Surf (0-0)
Winners of the longest team name in my rankings, they can also boast about being a feared team in the Western conference. They are a team that I wouldn't be surprised to see HOSTING a playoff game this season. They kind of flew under the radar last season to a good 11-7 record.

22. (2Z) Stockertown Rod and Gun Club (0-0)
After failing to win their playoff game against the Voodoo last season, their fate has sent them to Univ #2. I normally wouldn't trust someone who goes by Cheese Sandwich, but I think their owner knows what's going on over there... Most of the time.

23. (1W) Nomad Nation (0-0)
Coming off of a 17-2 campaign, the Nation fans are ready for them to compete in Elite! They pounded their weak conference last season and their fans grew restless, leaving at halftime during many of their games. This won't be the case this season. No way, no how.

24. (2Z) Manchester Titans (0-0)
A team that I really like for some reason, I may have them ranked higher than others would. They finished a measly 8-8 last season, so they've got to play this season out, and prove that they are worthy of an Elite spot. I should probably mention that they picked up Silver medals in both the TOC and Growl tournaments last season as well.

25. (2A) Dubamaniacs. (0-0)
New team name? Check. New team logo? Check. Worst owner in GLB? Check. I kid, I kid. Dub J looks to lead his team to the promised land this season - now whether that's to a glorious Gold gif - or a Glorious stop at McDonald's after an away game - who knows?

Some other teams to watch?

I like the Gridiron Gods, Nice Toxics, Black Hand, Brown Cows, Green Bay, Traumatic, and Coxsackie to make a top-25 appearance at one point or another this season.

In conclusion, I was sort of surprised to see 52 teams worthy of my interest in all of University. I like the group of teams we've got here at our age. Not too many turnovers after two seasons of existence. There should not only be tough games in Elite, but also in competitive.. and hell, even a few worthwhile games in Univ 3's West conference.

So, best of luck to everyone this season!

Nice work

U of D did not play the growl tourney (I don't think anyways)?

You have much more faith in my coordinating cares than I do. I'll be lucky to change up either O or D before playoffs (providing we make it).

Probably not going to be a top 25 team then for too long

With only 52 "rankable" teams in University, if we ever fall out of the top 25, we might as well sell the team back.

Great write-up. Although I feel we should be better than a couple teams ahead of us, it's hard to argue the Titans' placing when we missed the playoffs last season. We'll be looking to earn our way back into the top10 for our age bracket. Our chances hinge highly on the performance of our offense, which struggled with consistency during most of the regular season

To be completely honest, I thought you were right up there with one of the best teams we faced last season. I think you'll get back near the top.

Great write up man thanks for doing this. Rush should hopefully be even better this season we added some of the best free agents on the market. I hope we can finally get that Alp off our back.

Nice. Love that we have somebody at this level who is willing to do this. Will make the season so much better.
