I'm probably the minority here but when building combo arches I like to "lean" towards one aspect (meaning more against the pass or against the run?) more than to try and be good at both. So, if I was considering a LB combo, I'd make my mind at what I want him to be best at... especially when considering SA's and AEQ. So your numbers look ok... but I'd ask what do you want him to do best and adjust my answer accordingly.

The initial concept was a guy who would be primarily a back-up to the starting MLB but could also be on the field in passing situations, so some weakside duty in a 4-3, or... vice versa. I realize most builders aim to have a starting dot, but I'm building to compensate a general lack of LBs and help a roster.

So more towards good at pass coverage than at blitzing or hard hitting. Ok. If so, I'd want (this is just me here) to swap out some of his strength to try and get speed to an even 100 natural. Would also probably try to have all my AEQ/CEQ/EQ in speed as well. Some of the TE's and slot receivers he'll be around will be pretty fast... and it would help out a lot on getting to outside runs from the MLB position. The tradeoff shouldn't be that bad IMO. Everything else looks good and it would still work well enough as it is now. Also I'd pursue AEQ that is more bent towards coverage stuff than other stuff. He should preform well enough with his stats not to really need bonuses to his tackling and such. Hope others drop in here and add more/advise differently as it's always good to have more than one perspective.

IMO you probably want a more than 32 in the jump attribute. I don't see the speed as nearly as debilitating as your jumping. I think you could probably skimp some off your strength and confidence (I am one of those that doesn't see the point past 40 on confidence) and get a little extra on you jumping and speed (1 to 2 more points in speed would really be all it took and I think you want to see jumping in the 60s. To fill the role you are looking to fill I would consider avoiding the top tree and you have 22 more points to play with on the attributes as well (more actually since you will start applying points to SAs later).

Just my .01 cent since it is probably worth half what others could provide.

The points about SAs and EQ are something I agree with and have planned. I did have some concern about degrading tackling, but think that might gain a little compensation through the right pair of VAs.

It was a hard call filling out the tree but I see the logic in the suggestion. At the end of the VPB, I tried a few different combinations still using both, but got frustrated and just sort of went for equal distribution.

Drop STR 1 level, work the tree, save some SPs and see what can be done about SPD and JMP.

Great! Thanks for the advice, fellas.
