Get strength WAY up there. Then get agility WAY up there. problem solved.

The most frustrating part about building a pass rusher, for me anyway, is reading all of the rock solid advice from guys who haven't built a successful pass rusher themselves.

That's about right. Don't put too many points into SAs either yet.

Sorry to hijack the thread. But same question, I get NO push. I'm level 9 and play against 15-20s. So pretty much I am just screwed for the next 2 seasons no matter what I build?
If I were you I'd go crazy on agility for a while while training vision

As a DLineman, str is important in order to survive. You dont want to be pancaked on running plays. Agility is key to pass rushing. Most% of the time against an equal leveled O Lineman you will not have a signifcant advantage in terms of sheer strength. You can have a huge advantage in terms of agility.

It could also depend on how much you have in the Shed Block/SA's. But your STR needs to be pretty high still.

What do you mean by succesful? Putting up stats? or having crappy builds?

Would you listen if I seconded what most people have said? Except Irish Ninja, anyone who says that shed block is BS and then says to spend points on agi and spd; is on crack. As a pass rusher you should pick your bread and butter move, DE's have lots of choices, DT's have 2. You are either going to go through the O-Linemen, or go around them. Shed Block is going around them, so is agi/spd. Those 3 things go hand in hand. Strong Base is going through the O-Linemen, so is Strength. Those 2 things go hand in hand.
Choose your move and stick to it, then get better at it. And if it really makes a difference, this is coming from a successful pass rushing DT.

Makes all the difference. Getting pass rush advice from someone who's guy has 5 sacks in 3 seasons, on the other hand...well...ya know.

I dont feel that it has a significant impact on rushing the qb, thats all, you suggesting it is not BS, in fact many people believe it has a great impact for pass rushing but i am not one of them
AKA I've never invested points into it.
Shed block is amazing once you have enough str/agi.

agi/spd IMO. It makes you bounce a lot of plays outside and go around everyone. You need speed to get there when that happens. But I have plenty of strength already, so I could be wrong. It also will make your DE's love you, as many times I have shed blocks and bounce right into the OT, freeing the DE up to go for a free run at the QB. That's even better for the D IMO as most DE's have a level or two of first step and TV, plus mostly higher speed than us DT's. They should get there quicker if they run free than the other way around.

i am a big fan of the shed block as long as you have good STR for you level with decent agility.
vision is overrated for passrushing dt's
