I've been thinking of a way to create some kind of unique tournament over the last little while and finally think I may have come up with something. I suppose your interest will determine the legitimacy of the idea. Alas, here goes...
Tale of Two Halves Tournament
Personally, I don't know how many times my team has had a lead going into halftime just to blow it in the end due to a dreadful second half. Sometimes it's beyond your control (the scrim goes to shit on you, the morale spiral finally hits, etc.) Sometimes you just wish your team played like it did in the first half.
The idea
Each scrimmage will consist of two 'games'. The first half counting as one and the second half counting as another. It will be a double elimination tournament. Each round will be 're-bracketed' based on the previous rounds scores. I believe the best team each round deserves to be rewarded with the best possible seed and matchup each round the way the NHL does it. I will base this off PF vs PA and I know it won't be completely sound but as the rounds go, so does the accuracy. I haven't done all of the math but in the event only one team wins both halves in their scrimmage and everyone else splits, that team will get an automatic bye as they will not have an opponent available.
