The World League writeup......................(updates will be posted at end of thread)

Well, for those that do not know.....I have been playing GLB for some time and occassionally do write ups. Used to do them more back in season
27. That was the age of SIMplicity. Now I am in World League.....top of the heap, best of the best of the best of the best of the best, much more complicated.....at least in my humble opinion.

The first time here was a huge let down and if not for jdbolick, I would have quit. So before the predictions I have some suggestions for World League that if things are not going your way, you can refer back to. These are called the Irresistible Truths (named after yours truly).

1. Winning a perfect season in pro does not guarantee a playoff spot in World League.
2. A perfect season in WL may mean you put forth your best effort but it does not mean you win all your games or make the playoffs.
3. Do not cry on the WL forums because there is no pity.
4. A perfect regular season in WL does not mean you will win 1 playoff game.
5. Prayers to the SIM god will no longer be heard on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

Here is the writeup/predictions for the World League (Zeta).

Asau Golden Eagles
This team has a very good Effective level and has made some changes since last season. The owner Shawlemmond has been in the game since July 2008. This team has seen many WL champshipship games. They were the supreme victors in Season 33. Last season they lost in the first round to Sunday Funday (formerly the widow makers). Their opener will not be easy against the Graz Grizzles who last year had a big chip on their shoulder and was out to whip everyone. This year, the Grizzles are a little more sober. But I digress. Asau needs no introductions and not even a write up really. If you beat this team, it stands to chance they let you win to place them in the best seeding possible for the playoffs. Their rank is 8 in the off season. No luck needed here. This team is solid. My experts still have the Grizzles by 13. (I will have to check on that.)

All the Kings Royal Men
The King of Bling owns this team. A true GLB'r since May 2008. Plus he possesses the BoomyDTD factor. In case you did not know, this agent makes some great players. I have seen some owners donate flex just to see some of his builds. This team has a huge GM list but that did not help win the conference championship last season. Coxsackie will not allow a cake walk here. Soooooo, in the words from the movie...The 13th warrior...Prepare yourselves. At least your chemistry is 100. Put all you got into those first games to buffer you through the end. My experts have Coxsackie by 4.
Good luck.

Venom Dot Ball Academy
This is a modest team that does not display all its trophies in an attempt to intimidate other teams. The owner .spider is a seasoned veteran from Apr 2008. My team of statisticians has this team of average caliber coming into this season with a serious negative in chemistry. Lot of changes between seasons I think. Luck is not good as you have attracted the attention of Hogwarts. That is a team not to be underestimated. I see your track record of scrimmages is not bad at all. Plus your effective level looks good. My experts have Hogwarts by 27. (Interesting......)

Sunday Funday
Mr Homage runs this team with an iron hand. My way or the highway. I will admit, the former widow makers have been a reckoning force in GLB since long ago. These are the season 32 WL conference champions, and with the continued support of the "rusty Trombone", who is now on his 2nd coming, are looking to prove they can do it again. My team of "gut instinct dudes" say this is the team to beat in Zeta but after that loss to Hogwarts I don't know. But this will be an interesting first game against Steel City. Chemistry and Effective Level looks outstanding. Much scrutiny in the player selections. Should pay off big as I have seen big money being put down on this team. My experts have SF winning the opener by 6. Good Luck. You will be under the microscope.

New orleans Gurupies
Formerly the Swampdogs from the Big Easy where the crimes were committed but the bodies were never found. The owner Arscola, GLB'r since Apr 2008, and Zable, GLB'r since Apr 2008, must have something great to have attracted the attention of the Gurupie nation. Big names like RefGuru and FuManChuChu are not easily persuaded. The chemistry shows some changes were made during the offseason in preparation for this season. I will say, last season had a real unexpected ending. You lost the last game, still ended up in the playoffs, and then upset the number 1 seed in round 1. I guess your prayers to the SIM god were answered only to be crushed by HHWC in the 2nd round, who eventually won it all. Word on the street is that South Side Mafia is going to take you to the wood shed. That is what I heard. Your effective level is decent but your chemistry will be a factor. The "gut instinct dudes" say you have something we down't know about so you have been selected to win the first game by 2. They say a win is a win no matter how it looks. To me, you guys are still the DAWGS!!!!!! Good Luck.

Odessa mojo
Now this is a name that fits this team. When they get their "MOJO" going, they will steam roll teams. No matter who you are, no matter your fame, effective level, chemistry, your owners, your GM's,......not even if you are a moderator. Last season they were on a roll only to lose to HHWC in the conference championship. The owner MadMustaff, from Apr 2008, needs no introduction. This owner has won more WL titles that I can count. This season, the "Raider Nation" influence is in full effect....not sure what that means. The season opener against the Shockers will be a super exciting game. The networks have it as the game to watch. Will you get your MOJO going or will you have to wait till the next game? That is the question. My team of experts say it is a tie because they say both teams are going for the excitement factor over the actual win. So we move to the tiebreaker factor..... Do we favor Cinredfan over Hickster. The "Gut instinct dudes" like Hickster more. So there it is. Odessa by 7 over the Shockers.

Orlando Prime Timers
This is a first class team that knows how to live it up. The owner, Crowlnole (GLB'r since Mar 2008), has a saying.....show me the money!!!!! Yeah baby, this team gets all the perks. Treats the players like the premadonnas they are. Morale is through the roof but fluff must give way to reality. They came from the Pacific Pro league wherer they lost in the championship to Offtopica miracle. The chemistry changes show you are serious, but will it be enough against the defending WL champions? HHWC said no in their pre game interview. We will see. My experts have HHWC by 10. See irrestible truth number 1. Welcome to WL.

Nairobi Warthogs
This team is interesting. In the philosophy of the team building pyramid, BadgeBacker (since mar 2008) has the help of some of the best in GLB. The belief is that strength in numbers will produce results. I will say that you have an impressive list of GM owner/agents. This is the SAPL league champion from last season. Beat BDS in that final game . Well, seems fate has come early to set this rematch up. You definitely hae you work cut out for you. The scrimmages this season show you lost to BDS. That was enough to convince my experts. They have BDS by 14. I will say good luck and good day.

Dogs of War
Decent effective levels and good chemistry. Strong showing expected from this team. The owner, Mauler (4/2008) has been trying with no luck lately. Last season, they were making a name for themselves only to be cut short by the Mojo in the second round. This team has shown they belong in WL but they just can't get a break when they really, really, really need it. Up against the Def. of insanity in the first round. The experts say that DOI won't know what hit them. They all pick the Dogs of War by 8. Good Luck and tell Jerry Maguire hello...or that he had us at hello.

Republic of Benin.
I did a write up for this team back in Season 27. Looks like they finally made it. Good for Ezra__(10/2009). Keep pounding on the door till you get in. Back then (season 27), the team was older and has since been revamped. Still see the cult players.....especially Mith.....always liked that owner. Lost barely in the conference championship to Nairobi last season. The opener is against the miracle team from offtopica. Word on the street is that Offtopica has a shrine to the SIM god in their stadium. Chem is even so the experts went with OffTopica even though some of their players are in decline. Plus catch22 is on their team. Good Luck.

Carthage Clash
This team was a big contender in WL last season. The owner, Hayes23 (6/2008) has seen it all.....being a former WL champion an all. Up against the Prawns in the season opener may seem like an easy win but the Prawns seem to know what you know and are expected everything you got. No surprises here, either way, so we have to base this one on the SIM expectation factor. Word on the street says that MadMustaff from the Mojo already knows the outcome. The experts are going with that and the SIM analysts say it confirms their reports. Prawns by 2 to make it look close.

Miama Red Hawks
First class team with a first class owner. Valen (4/2008) has had to make some signigant changes since last season in hopes to remain in WL till he can get it together with the "new" crop of players. Playoffs is their only concern here. Tomcic is still the brain trust of the team, or so I have heard. They lost in the first round of the playoffs last season to the 3 kingdom warriors. The comeback in the second half was too little too late, but I think they were happy being back in WL this season. UFC is prepared so it does not look good for you in the opener. My experts have UFC by 13. Good luck this season.

Cult of Personalities
This team has had alot of name changes over the seasons. (Viper Assassins and BC Nuggets to name a few.) Vladykins (10/2008) is really looking to upset some teams this season and has assembled everyone from the network to accomplish just that. They have perfect chem and have done much scrimmaging to be ready. This is the Cult's premiere team and is looking to cause some serious pain starting with the Porto People Eaters. My experts don't have much to say about this game except Cult by 9. Good luck.

La Flama Blanca
This team actually came from pacific pro. Another team that lost to Offtopica in the playoffs, league championship to be exact. MizzouDizzle (4/2008) is the owner. Not much is know about this team or the E-City Mercernaries. but we do know that the Flama had an almost perfect season last season in the pro's. Do not forget Irresistible truth number 1. But in this case, the experts go by just the statistics on this one. They have Flama by 5.

South Otto Fragile Porcelain Mice.
The rank is 3 going into the opener. The owner lardaddy (5/2008) is not to be taken lightly. The experts picked you to win even before they knew who you were playing. Should be an exciting season with this team. The experts are seeing alot of upsets and broken dreams from this team. We will see if Builder Bob can really make those builds. The experts have you by 3 over Moose Jaw. Lastly, I hope to see CowTesticles posting in the forums. good Luck

Fire Breathing Rubber Duckies
Well T2 really opened his mouth to start the forums this season. The owner, Cinco de mayo Cro (5/2008) is a veteran GLB'r....much respect. This seems to be a legacy Network team which lost to the mice last season in the league championship. On a good note, they did beat the Aquabats. North American Pro league represented here. Opener against the Evil inc is expected to be good and close. My experts are going with the Duckies by 7.

I think that is it for the words.....................My guess for the end is as follows.
If you disagree....please send your suggestions to Mr. Loco Moco ....co-owner of "Cult of Personalities"
Like the other cult teams, He will consider your request, play you a song, and that is it.... nothing will happen.
Why you ask, because everything is a Wu Dang Production.

The predicted ranking as they are seen.........by me............ (this is preliminary till Game 2 till we get more data)
1. Sunday Funday
2. Odessa Mojo
3. New Orleans Gurupies
4. South Otto Fragile Porcelain Mice
5. The Cult of Personalities
6. Asau Golden Eagles

8. La Flama Blanca
9. Dogs of War
10. Venom Dotball Academy
11. Carthage Clash
12. Republic of Benin
13. Orlando Prime Timers
14. Miami Red Hawks

Nice writeup! We're a former Legacy team though, doing stuff on our own these days.
