As a huge Manchester United fan, what a sad moment; The announcement of pending retirement from Sir Alex Ferguson, the greatest living coach in any sport in the world. His coaching prowess and achievements can only be matched by John Wooden in my opinion.

At the close of the current English Premier League season, Sir Alex Ferguson will retire. He is 71 years old.

His personal trophy collection will demand a separate house and a map to keep track of all 49. He won 13 league trophies since the beginning of the Premier League, in 1992. That means that in the 21-year history of the EPL, Manchester United and Ferguson have won more than half.

Pick any year at random. The odds Ferguson won it are better than even!

Indeed hes been a legend.

At times I've disliked him a lot, but he commands respect and nobody will match him in the game of football again.

27 years in charge of 1 football team is amazing and WILL NOT happen again.

Dario Gradi had about 25 years at Crewe and I think there was a guy at Auxerre who was there for about 35 years.

Guy Roux took Auxerre from non-league to winning the Ligue 1 title, and managed them for 44 years according to Wikipedia, now that is truly mental.

He got the job done, that is for sure. He won 31% of all trophies possible to win. I mean HOLY SHIT! That is an achievement.
