A new football league will be starting up soon that will be run using a text based game. Basically you'll set your lineups, trade, and manage your team while one person acting as the commissioner will input these changes into the game and then sim and upload the results periodically.
We are a pretty close community and most of the guys are pretty cool and easy to get along with. The link to the forums is

The website is primarily based around a basketball league run with a similar program and already in its 20- something-th season which has lasted for like 3 years IRL, so the group has definitely been successful (previous incarnations with many of the same people have been going on since like 2001 or something). So spots in that could open up soon, although openings are very rare (maybe one every month). The forums are just fun and the new NFL game should be too.
