Ouch. Zeta looks brutal and Alpha looks like a cakewalk. *sigh*

Without knowing anything about the new promotes, I think Zeta got the weaker pro teams, though.
It actually looks fairly even to me this time around... maybe a slight edge to Zeta due to the one extra S33 WL team.

i believe it goes "conference your affiliation is in" > "the other conf"
so they are both greater than eachother
that's some deep shit

I thought the opposite, although that assumption is based on D9, Graz, and TKW getting less attention than their parent teams.

Not sure cakewalk is how i'd describe alpha
Asau, Cox, Hogwarts, SF, VDA, and Graz are solid
Mix in Padre/GCV/Miami who are good for some wins and a few upsets
Zeta has
Odessa, Portland, HHWC, Cinci, as for sure bets
Mix in Dirty Island ( was in final 4 last season but needs to earn respect after getting blown out), Richey, Dogs of War, SSM, Carthage
Seem fairly even

Curious..do you think the conferences are done at random with a program...or do you think someone in management actually spends any time trying to put teams in certain conferences based on certain criteria? Obviously they wouldn't do it for all the leagues, so not sure if WL would be any different...

Random. At least they split the playoff teams, though. I remember one season where 10 playoff teams ended up in the same conference, which I think is why Bort changed it.

^Yup. The WL conference sorting change was a GLB userbase suggestion that got implemented.

Yeah, it's not quite as bad as I thought. Portland + Cincinnati + Odessa + HHWC is brutal, whereas Asau is the only team in Alpha I'd put that high, but after that both conferences drop off precipitously. If there is as much parity below that as I suspect, then it should be a fun season.
They should allow the conference winners from the previous season to 'pick teams'. Kinda like choosing teams in hoops, but instead of choosing the best for your team you pick the weaker squads.
I am guessing Sumatra would be a first round choice.

There is no parent team for Graz. So if I somehow learn to DC I have no worries about making playoffs.
