I can remember doing hay and there was a colony of ground wasps out there. They got plenty pissed when I mowed over their nest entrance. I was lookin behind the tractor to check the mower bar and saw the black cloud forming behind me. Switch off. Feet flew. Hay got mowed the next day. I've been there, had to bail off the tractor, didn't even shut it off. It took several hours before I could get close enough to the tractor because it was covered, maybe it was the noise and vibration.
I brought it up because the number of bees and the aggressiveness of the bees is unique and unlike anything I've seen. One theory is that with the pandemic, there are less bees being hit by traffic, another explanation is that this is the first season in over a decade where we didn't use organophosphates to have to kill soybean aphids as their numbers were down this year. That's hundreds of thousands of acres of bugs that weren't killed.
