Merry Christmas and just about mid way through the regular season. Game 8 is tonight and we head into the back stretch and to the Playoffs.
1) Benin - Love to keep it close and pull it out in the 4th Quarter. Last game the Warriors were the ones trying to pull out the heroics and pull out a wild game in the last minute, but had to much to overcome with the 17 points Benin put up to start the 4th Quarter. Now, Axis
2) Axis - Despite getting a surprise from the Surging DS Factory, Axis has leading the way, with a very stingy Defense, 2d only to Benin. However, both offenses have been middle of the road, just getting done what they have to. Tough to call a game where both teams Defense have lead the way and offenses are doing just enough for a win. However, we will know tonight, which of these teams earns the top honors for best regular season team for the 1st half in Africa.
3) Rocky Mountain - They have been the quiet Thunder storm throughout Africa this season. They dont brag or taunt, jsut come out and win games. The only thing to stop them thus far has been the Axis Defense.
4) Carthaginian War Elephants - Took their first spill from a Resurging TAP, but came back to edge out ABD in a barn burner of a game where both Defenses look to have been mailing it in. Next step is to take on another surging team rising from the basement in DS Factory
5) Angola Blood Diamonds - It will be interesting to see how they respond from the CWE shootout, but I suspect Cape Verde will come out a bit bloody. However, games will get gradually a bit tougher as the end of the season schedule seems a bit tougher then the early games with more than 3 teams that are capable of winning on a regular basis. With 6 quality teams in the final 8, I call ABD will win 4 of the quality contests, just dont know which ones.
6) Legendary - Has to be the best 4-3 team in the conference. Lost to ABD by 3, RM by 4 and surged hard on Benin at the end, but could not mount the comeback. Now they have WWR and RRK to prove they can wiin the tough games they need to.
7) Royal Knights - DD's team started out slow as has becme their custom, but did not wait until the late season to make the surge and start the climb up. Something tells me they are not done yet.
8) WWR - W - L - W - L - W - L - W makes a great pattern, but it does not get a team into the playoffs. Rhinos need to bust the trend today and overtake the Warriors to stay relavent. So hopefully they are not hung over from Christmas Eve and they are coming out firing today
9) DS Factory - Had a rough early season, but then jumped up to take out Axis in a statement game. How many more surprises does DS Factory have this season
10) TAP - Lose 3 and then rip off 4 in a row seems to be the Predator way. Started last season slow, to win the next 11 games. Today, they will make it 5 and then get to prove they are back with games against ABD and DS, then Rocky Mountain.
Rest of the teams will continue to be punching bags for the rest of the league without some serious help. Good Luck this season
