Season 3 Week 9 Rankings for USA #7 (Western Conference)

This week’s rankings have been reduced to the rankings and upcoming games due to my efforts to have a social life. The full length ones will be coming back during the week

Disclaimer: I am the owner of the New Brunswick n00bs and this is only my opinion based upon how the teams looked when I saw them

More than halfway through the season, the conference is beginning to stratify itself into 4 tiers:
Tier 1 (Fighting for top seed): Waco, Great Plains
Tier 2 (Fighting for home playoff game): New Brunswick, Las Vegas, Silverymoon
Tier 3 (Fighting to get into the playoffs): Portland, Buffalo, Oakland, Spicewood, Scottsdale, Miami Dallas, Hartford
Tier 4 (Trying to avoid relegation): Grand Haven, RGB, Carolina

1. Great Plains Reapers
2. Waco Davidians
3. Las Vegas Stunners
4. Silverymoon Elves
5. New Brunswick n00bs
6. Portland Hitmen
7. Buffalo Rangers
8. Oakland Wizards
9. Dallas Red Raiders
10. Spicewood Longhorns
11. Scottsdale Sun Demons
12. Miami Cyclones
13. Hartford Hellhounds
14. Grand Haven Mist
15. RGB Berzerk
16. Carolina Bar Stars

Games of the Week:

#3 Las Vegas at #4 Silverymoon

This battle will go a long way in determining who gets a home playoff game. Both these teams rely on their defense because their offenses can sputter at times. It will all come down to who can make the bigger plays and withstand the other teams’ pressure.
Prediction: This game could get ugly quick as both teams know how to pressure QBs, but can have trouble getting into the endzone. I’ll give the nod to Las Vegas because they were able to score a little more against the big 2.
Predicted Score: 17-9 Las Vegas

#1 Great Plains vs #6 Portland

Once again Portland will try to upset an upper tier team. Hopefully they’ll have a different result than last time.
Prediction: This game will play out similar to last game. Portland will be in trouble against one of the best defenses in the league. It’s just a matter of how many points Great Plains will be able to put up on the scoreboard.
Predicted Score: 34-6 Great Plains

#8 Oakland at #11 Scottsdale

Oakland needs to continue winning to lock up a spot in the playoffs, while Scottsdale has faded fast and really needs this game to stay viable. Oakland has been close to pulling some upsets, but its offense has sputtered when it has needed it most. Meanwhile Scottsdale has had trouble keeping offenses down.

Prediction: This is the type of game that Oakland needs to show up for and dominate in order to assert itself as a playoff team. I believe that the Oakland offense will find a way to show up and pull out a big rout.
Predicted Score: 27-10 Oakland

Current “Game of the Week” Record: 24-10

If you have a different opinion of the players of the week, have a “play of the week” or have a prediction of the “Game of the Week” post below. Let’s see how this season turns out and good luck in week 10

Our swim through the top of the division continues...I just hope we can make a better showing of ourselves than we did with Waco.

ugh. brutal week for us. we had this one won.

we caused four fumbles, but recovered none. we fumbled three times, and lost all three - two of them on punts and inside the 20, leading to 10 points.

that was the difference this game.

it sucks when the only luck you have is bad luck.

Tell me about it. It seems that way every week for us this season.

there are plenty of aspects of this game, that, as the season goes on, make it easier for winning teams to keep winning, and harder for losing teams to win.

i know it sounds like "well, you feel that way because you're on a losing team", but the little things - like morale hits for losing and chemistry hits for trying to build a team - combine to make for bigger things.

in the long run, i feel it'll hurt the game, because people who lose generally won't want to keep (paying) playing.

there's also the fact that i think the game is growing too fast - too many teams being added without kinks being worked out first.
