I don't think this gets said enough, so I wanted to say it here: thank you, jdbolick, for the effort you put into learning as much as you can about the mechanics about this game, and for striving as hard as you do to share it with the rest of us.
Your work in the FAQ/Newbies forum is especially invaluable, as you really help to push back the frontiers of ignorance and make the game a little more accessible for newbies who might be otherwise overwhelmed. Without you there, quite a few people would probably give up on this game just from sheer frustration after about two weeks, but your coaching gets them on the right track.
Elsewhere in the forums, your passion for this game shines through in every post, and I dare say at times it seems that you care more about GLB than Bort or Catch themselves. When you're right (and you usually are), you are a tireless advocate for truth and knowledge. And when you're wrong (as rare as it is), you force the rest of us re-examine what we know and defend it with equal vigor, which is never a bad thing.
Without you, these forums would be a little less interesting, and we'd all be just a little bit slower to figure this game out. So thank you for your singular and unique contributions to this game we all enjoy. You help us all enjoy it that much more.
