Ok, I've run through this play a handful of times & I "think" I know why this might be happening but I do not agree it should happen this way so am putting on here to see if this is working as intended.

Here's the defense called. Its a custom play but this is whats supposed to happen.

Basically, the LILB is supposed to cover the HB or FB to the strongside...and if neither of those are valid...go to flat strong. Obviously he does not do this & blitzes the QB for no valid reason (imo).

The player in question's tactics are set to:
Play focus: Pass focus
Pass rush aggressiveness: 100%

My speculation:Now I suspect the tactics themselves are part of the behavior but not part of a valid reason for this behavior. Apparently, based on this being the only instance I could find, he is being fooled by the run & is reading pass. But his assignments on the play are to cover man or go to flat coverage. If he is fooled by the run, then he should believe his man assignments to be valid OR zone assignment to be valid. There is no reason he should believe his zone assignment is invalid & simply jump to blitz imho.

Look like a valid bug? Or working as lolintended? Clearly I need to rebuild that (lol4-4) play but wanted to report it so that other similar situations (or triggers) do not lead to similar behavior.

Um ... as far as I can tell it is working as intended. Your D only has the CB trying to cover the HB on the strong side before he crosses the LOS. Your LILB is focusing on covering the FB not the HB. You have FB first in your priority list and on the 2 plays I could see (the rest are private), the LILB did exactly what he was suppose to do. He went hard core after the FB and ignored the HB. The only person who went after the HB was the CB and well he got flattened or beat by the HB which lead to the big gain.

Looks like a problem with the defensive logic more then anything else honestly.

Going after the FB would have been understandable.

Going after the QB is not even in his progressions. Thats what he does in the 1st replay & the only potential bug I see (if that wasn't clear in the OP). My concern is that the rest of the replays, he's actually making his vision check for run/pass. The play in question I worry that he was fooled into thinking pass & simply did the wrong thing.

IMO....too near the LOS....sets his check solid in the gap.....if backed out a touch he doesn't plow gap and drifts to cover
