This topic is relevant to my interests as my QB has a ton of hurries/sacks/bad throws and a similar build.

Guys I've tried freaking everything. The only thing that made a meaningful difference was to adjust passing priority towards route distance (now at -25) so that he'd wait for receivers to complete their routes. He still sucks, but I'm thinking now that poor pass protection has contributed more to his suckiness than his build has (we were way overmatched in our league but he didn't fare much better, almost always sub 50% completions, in balanced scrims).

The build isn't ideal but generally follows the pocket QB script. We ran a 3 QB system with this player getting about 1/2 the snaps (so I'd dismiss stamina as a potential cause factor).

Last season stats: 113 Hurries, 37 Sacks, 84 bad throws on 225 attempts, 3 drops, 4 ints, 28% comp, 34.9 Yds/G.

Our deep passer (with a solid prototypical build) didn't fare much better: 183 Hurries, 35 Sacks, 109 bad throws on 298 attempts, 7 drops, 8 ints, 28.2% comp, 47.2 Yds/G.

Here's his build today:

IMO 75% of the effectiveness of a QB is the OC having a good OAI/Gameplan.....15% is players around him WRs/OL....and 10% is his build (unless your build REALLY sucks).

I think you're right about the poor line affecting his ability to complete passes. I also notice quite a few deflections in the most recent regular season games vs human teams. I'd attempt to reduce these by increasing passing style towards bullet until I start to see too many drops. I consider 1 drop per 10 attempts to be solid. I also adjust passing priority towards open man to combat pressure from the DL and it'll help with deflections by throwing more when they're open. I would also have hb/fb dump pass set to often, favor long set to no, and throw away set to medium. Good luck.
