This is one of the great dilemmas of GLB. It's full effort or nothing. If you have an OT with 80 SPD and 90 AGI and he's pass blocking, he uses every bit of that SPD/AGI to get back. If the DE misses the vision check on the snap and gets off the line late, the OT has left a huge hole for him to run through. Instead of trying to slow and close the gap, or only hit max velocity if the DE is trying to teleport around him, he gives a straight line to the pocket (often times necessitating the G to pickup the DE).
