St. Michaels - After much celebration the the Blicas boarded the plane anxiously traveling to Hjørring to face off against the Rhinos coming off last weeks win verse the Turn Blue Jays. Looking to extend their win streak to two games, their hopes were nearly diminished in a late "rush" from the Rhinos in the final five minutes.
Opening the game, neither team could seem to collect a sufficient drive, progressing them into field position for either a field goal or a touchdown. Both [HJø] Phill Cannon & [ST.] Eric MartinsQB, were determined to face the goal post first. The Blicas opening drive looked to carry entirely down field giving Eric the upper hand, but [HJø] Brian Ødelægger came forward hard at Strong Safety, abruptly ending what could of been a break-away run on the ground, forcing his helmet into the arms of [ST.] Dillon McKay causing him to lose the ball. A disgruntled defense took the field beginning what turned out to be an iron-jawed defense for most of the game. Forcing five fumbles, and turning one interception. The notorious brunt force of the Blica defense made their statement in the backfield wrapping up ten tackles for a loss and one sack, and closing the door on the Rhinos offensive keys, hurrying the quarterback(s) five times, forcing them to throw eleven incompletion's, deflecting twelve passes.
To much surprise, coming off an impressive day, the Blica offense failed to complete decisive plays in "gift" situations, but that didn't them from hitting their receivers thirty-one times for 227yds, the Blicas lowest on the year. Connecting with every receiver on the team at least once, Eric couldn't seem to continue his rhythm as the Rhinos forced him to throw two interceptions; [HJø] David Starsky & [HJø] Prime Timez, keeping him away from the endzone, allowing only fourteen points on the day, and forcing sixteen incomplete passes. Although the Rhino defense seemed to hold the Blica offense to low numbers, it wouldn't be enough to assist the Rhinos in their fourth quarter "stampede", accumulating a touch down [HJø] Sleepy Monkey which left [HJø] Irving Zisman missing an essential extra point, but redeeming himself one minute and thirty-three seconds later kicking a field goal, bringing them within one point of the Blicas. Great clock management and the completion of a first down on 2nd & 4.5, [ST.] Eric MartinsQB put a stop to the Rhinos relentless effort s towards turn the game around. Ending in a heart breaking 17-16 loss for the Rhinos, continuing their two game losing streak.
Todays player(s) of the game were split down the middle with an offensive mention for the Blicas (QB) Eric MartinsQB [27/41, 198yds, 2 TD], and Blicas defensive player (DE) Thomas Bucknasty [6 Tkl, 2 Hry, 2 FFum]. An honorable mention on the day goes to the guidance and the determination of the Rhinos (QB) Phil Cannon [15/25, 166.5yds, 2 TD]
Next week St. Michales Blicas look to extend their two game winning streak against a remarkable Sterling team, making a solid name for themselves with the most dominant Wide-Receiver foursome, and an 8-1 record on the year. Last time these two teams met in season two, The Blicas were left thirteen points shy, expect some sort of revenge, not to mention; This the Blicas the last "major" threat that stands in between any chance of a Playoff miracle birth. This game should be a commentator and football fans highlighted game as it's going to be a bloody, sweaty battle for both sides looking to make a statement in the Zeta Conference.
