When players say there build is "finished" or list final stats, what season/level/age are they referring too? Are those the stats for when a player reaches level 79, is WL eligible, or a certain number of days old?

Also, what is the typical age when its time to retire a good WL player? Right after the 5-season plateau ends, or are they still good for another season or 2?

It looks like the cost of permanent custom equipment is about 9-10 rented equipment, but without understanding how long players last I can't figure out if purchasing permanent equipment is cost-effective or not.

A) A build is finished at day 281. From then on, all growth and improvement is over.
B) Some people retire when the plateau ends, some keep for one more season, but frankly? You'll never play at your top once decline sets in. Aim for 12 seasons of player existence.
C) Purchasing permanent equipment IS cost-effective, if only for the level 32,56 and 72 (I think?) upgrades.

Thanks! It seems with 12 seasons permanent equipment would only make sense if purchased in the first 3 seasons. Since my player is halfway through his 4th I could probably rent whatever I want for ~100 pts/season instead of spending ~$1000 pts for permanent. Or am I missing something there?

if you use Flex points to buy your CE, the long term one offers the 70% refund, the seasonal does not

Not completely. The added VAs and BTs you get in the first season of decline can compensate for the decline, at least for positions that are built around a couple key stats.

At least for the first part of the season, might drop from starter to back up in the back half but its a season worth playing IMO.

Stat wise if you team is not going to the playoffs you can also use temp boosts and attribute VAs to make yourself better than plateau for the regular season games.

This refund is the main reason to buy permanent as opposed to renting.

Totally agree with this. I wouldn't recommend a 2nd decline season. I've tried it a couple of times and the results are pretty bad.
