If the QB tucks the ball and starts running, why is that called a sack when he is tackled behind the LOS?

I was thinking the same thing. Anytime the QB drops back for a pass and gets tackled behind the LOS its a sack even if he decides to try and run after a few seconds.

I know irl if he is behind the line of scrimmage and gets tackled while trying to pass, it's a sack. I just can't see anything about a QB who is running.

I guess anything behind the LOS no matter what he is doing is a sack.

ok thanks for my n00b moment

I'm pretty sure the NFL judges based on the intent of the play. A called QB run is obv never a sack....but scrambling on a pass play is still a sack until he crosses the LOS.
