I am pretty sure I know the answer, but this being a computer game and all I should double check if the code equals reality.

Wide out on the sideline, wideout in front of the QB, both 3 yards down field.

Sideline is the tougher pass to make and catch because of the direct distance between the QB and receiver, right?

Or is it 3 yards is 3 yards to the code?

Probably a good question for the next Q&A. Not sure that one has ever been clarified.

Most of the pass distance related questions have been in relation to SAs/VAs and how they are calculated.

Considering this is a computer game and coded by Bort I would put my money on 3 yards is 3 yards.

I would bet that angle at 3yrds vs. speed=deflected anyway...yup good question for next Q and A

Idk, the way I understand it, the field is simply a giant three dimensional cartesian plane. The sim and coding itself is all math-based. There's no reason he couldn't grab the distance of the throw as opposed to just grabbing the y coordinate.

In case ya missed it from the recent Q&A

In terms of how difficult a pass is to make, how much strength, vision, decrease in quality, chances of a short pass etc etc etc, all of the things that come from a pass's distance.

If one Wide out is near the sideline, and another wideout is directly midfield in front of the QB, and both are 3 yards down field from the line of scrimmage...

Is the pass to the Sideline WR a tougher pass to make and catch than one to the Midfield WR because of the direct actual distance between the QB and receiver?

Or are both passes just "3 yard passes" and the distance effect upon the pass the same to the Sideline and Midfield receiver due to their distance from the line of scrimmage?

Shorter version, is pass distance based upon a physical XY calculation between the QB and WRs locations, or is it solely based upon the receiver's distance from the line of scrimmage?

Quality calculations and the like are based on the physical X/Y distance from the QB. Special abilities and VA's that say "5 yard pass" etc are determined from the LOS.

Kind of figured as much since I see a ton more PD's on the sidelines, even in single coverage. Thanks for reposting the answer yello.
