0:42 1st & 10 OPP 20 False start penalty committed by GB G Lang
0:42 1st & 15 OPP 25 False start penalty committed by GB G Sitton

0:36 2nd & 30 OPP 40 GB QB Rodgers pass to GB WR Jennings up the right side, caught (12.5 yd gain) [diving tackle: Chi CB 7]
0:28 3rd & 17.5 OPP 28 Offensive Timeout Called: Green Bay Packerz

Bunch of crap. Makes me have second thoughts about playing this seaon. Way more frustrating than fun anymore.

Just a thought ...

Has anyone looked into the amount of false starts by AT ?

I'm assuming that more are against run blockers than pass blockers, but wanted to know if anyone has done any research.

I'm positive it's a lack of vision/confidence.

I wouldn't be so sure.

As part of my Height analysis - http://goallineblitz.com/game/forum_thread.pl?thread_id=4926374 - I also pulled in my false start data.

Background info:
Shorter players had 3-4 less vision than their taller counterpart.
OTs has 15 con/30 vis, G/C had 30 con/15 vis.
I had 102 penalties across 25 games and in roughly 2500 offensive plays.

I'd expect taller players (with more vision) to have fewer penalties.
I'd expect a different between G/C vs OT, depending on whether Con or Vis are better.

Pos.............Height..........Penalties...............Pen/Player
C...............-1..............13..............13
C...............1...............13..............13
G...............-1..............24..............12
G...............1...............19..............9.5
OT..............-1..............13..............6.5
OT..............1...............20..............10
C/G.............-1..............37..............12.33333333
C/g.............1...............32..............10.66666667
All.............-1..............50..............10
All.............1...............52..............10.4

OT..............All.............33..............8.25
C/G.............All.............69..............11.5

Comparing vision OTs vs confidence C/G, the OTs had significantly fewer false starts. So.... based on that, vision matters more than confidence (if confidence matters at all.)

Taking all the o-linemen together though, the taller ones (with +4 vision) had slightly more penalties, but not significantly more. (They certainly did not have _fewer_, which is what we'd expect.) So that counters the previous paragraph, unless the +4 simply wasn't enough to matter.

Furthermore, the player group with by far the fewest penalties were my short OTs, which had the lowest Vision (of the OTs) and the lowest Con (of the rest of the OL.) So.... yeah, have fun figuring that out.

So my thoughts on confidence:
Either confidence sucks, or it doesn't matter, or you need vision first before it has an effect.
Vision seems to reduce it if you have a lot. But the +4 didn't see an effect, but that might just not have been enough to show up statistically.

I was told by an agent many moons ago that you have to keep vision and confidence the same. 22 in vision you need 22 in confidence. Is that true? I dunno. I know I tried all kinds of offensive lineman and it seemed that having a ton of it compared to just average made no difference

I do know this, Your player makes significant changes in an attribute when the following are hit
15
21
30
38
48
55

They should keep track of false starts on the O-line stat page.

Hope so, only got 2 in my scrim today.

Yesterday I got 10, 4 on one drive alone. I posted in the feedback thread and was completely ignored so I messaged catch. If there is one thing seriously making me want to quit it has been the false starts. We all play the same sims, bad or not I can deal with them. It's just random crap ending my drives rather than my opponent's defense that really bothers me.
