There is no advantage to be gained from multi-training early, while it can hurt the build. The reason I say there's no advantage is because starting multi-training early does not mean you get to multi-train more. You can only multi-train for X number of days to hit your AEQ targets regardless of when you do it. The advantage to waiting a bit is that you get your primaries up faster, which allows you to hit caps a little sooner, plus then more of your multi-trains are applying above the caps instead of getting you to the caps.

What I'm confused about is once you do switch to multi-train, are you guys referring to 3x multi train or 4x multi train? Reading Rage's guide, it seems he doesn't unlock his 4th multi-train option until level 22-25!

Rage is like a buddhist monk who has focused his efforts and mastered training, so it's not something everyone else will necessarily want to emulate. He knows the circumstances in which 3-way training is worthwhile, but most people will just want to go the safe route and stick with 4-way.

Im not quite sure of your logic on this, because mathmatically you are way wrong (unless you are training on light). Every time you are training any way other than multi-training or light , you are burning potential multi-training options, if you start 8 days later, and train all normal , that is one and a half less multi-trains you get in your career. You have a limited number of BT you can "spend" for your AEQ needs, starting later does not mean you still get the same number of trains, you get less. If you train past day 48 on intense, you lose even more quad options, every 3 intense trains is one less multi you can afford. Regardless of difference in build style, just some math to think about.

Just to judge values : 8 normal trains at the 33 or 50 range is about 2.8 sp value. One and a half multi-train at about 3 15 one at 50 is about 6.8 SP value, or more end of career quadding about 4.2 SP value. (via mandyross's sp/train hotspots guide)
