I signed up for a free boosting DT. Can he be salvaged or should I retire him and try out a new position? What should I do differently this time, or the next?

Cant be salvaged.

You want to take his first attribute (strength) up to 83 or higher before you put SPs into other areas. Id recommend taking it even higher then 83. You also want to unlock multi training. Unlock attributes and 4 way train.

Also you want to go with the run stuffing archtype. I assume you want him to be a pass rusher but the best pass rush DTs are out of the run stuffing archtype.
