(aka, if you don't like it beat my team by 50 and make your own top ten)
(aka, I'm trying to figure out all the teams but I'll largely go on what I know)

Also note that this early in the season I'm leaning a lot more on the pre-season and scrimmage results than I would normally Regular record shows up in the beginning with overall record in parenthesis



1. Heartbreak Ridge Recons 2-0 (10-0)- These guys have done nothing but win, win, win since the playoffs began last season. A very well put together team and a taker of all challengers. Until someone knocks them off and ends that winning streak, they are the top team.

Best Win: 38-31 over Alabama Crimson Tide
Key loss: They haven't tasted one of those yet.....

2. Iron Mountain Mustangs 2-0 (6-0)- These guys have also not tasted defeat yet this season but haven't taken on as many stiff challenges as the Recons have. They will have their chance to really make their case this week against Cincinatti.

Best win: 31-3 over Newcastle Top Guns
Key Loss: none yet

3. Gridiron Outlaws 2-0 (6-1) Really 3-6 right now is a coin toss between some very evenly matched and strong and proven teams. The Outlaws get the edge based on some quality pre-season scrim wins. Basically it's splitting hairs...

Best win: 21-14 over Parris Island Devil Dogs
Key Loss: 17-10 againt the Cincinatti Thundercats

4. Montenegro Meat 2-0 (6-1) This may be the biased part kicking in, but I put the Meat in the 3-6 tier. They have some solid wins but like the others, that one loss to throw in the doubt and the parity. A game 8 match-up with the Outlaws could very well decide the lol-West regular season title.

Best Win: 38-34 Cincinatti Thundercats
Key loss: 28-21 to the Parris Island Devil Dogs

5. Cincinatti Thundercats 2-0 (8-2) These guys have played all-comers and have won some good games. They are going to be right there at the end. They are really one 4 -point pre-season loss from being a very solid top two or three pick. A strong contender in the murderous Eastern conference.

Best win: 17-10 Gridiron Outlaws
Key Loss: 38-34 Montenegro Meat

6. Parris Island Devil Dogs 2-0 (7-3) They have played some tough teams too and have some quality wins and some scars to show for it. this team is very strong and will be right in the fight for the top four in the East.

Best win: 28-21 Montenegro Meat
Key Loss: 16-0- Bremerhaven Orkan

7. The Texas Taus of the BOLN 2-0 (9-4) Taus has an offense that will simply give certain defensive set-ups fits and they have proven to be quite strong on the other side of the ball as well. They have faced all-comers and really are a solid pick for a darkhorse contender in the West. They'll win a lot more than they lose and can beat anyone on any given day.

Best win: Bremerhaven Orkan (twice 27-6 and 27-10, both ranked scrims)
Key loss: San Diego Samurai 48-42

8. Columbus Dots 2-0 (4-8) This team has potential and a rapidly rising chemistry. Their last win over the Marshmallows served notice that they could contend. Unfortunately, it's a lot more crowded with quality teams atop the East than it is the West so they have a tough hill to climb. Don't be fooled by the record. They have played a murderer's row of top teams to get themselves ready for the games that count.

Best Win: 31-10 Steel Belted Marshmallows
Key Loss: 45-13 Montenegro Meat

9. The Legion's Chocolate Blaze 1-1 (6-1) This team had a very solid season 26 and followed it up with a good pre-season. Aside from the week one slip against the Meat, this team has every look of a contender. The best 1-1 team in the league.

Best win: Georgia Lunatics Insane Asylum 21-9
Key loss: 52-28 Montenegro Meat

10. Quarterback Academy 2-0 (6-1) Aside from one game, these guys have looked like a solid team to start the season. As the chemistry improves, so could their ranking as we move forward.

Best win: 40-28 Great Laked Zebra Mussles
Key Loss: 35-21 San Diego Samurai

On the Brink:

Newcastle Top Guns 2-0 (2-7)

We are having a good start to the season but I expect other teams to catch up as the season goes on. We have a great group of agents with loads of experience but the playoffs are always a different story.

Yeah, it's tough early in the season when you have to rely on pre-season results. I tried to use the limited regular season results as the first deciding factor and then ranked scrimmages next and finally just anything as the final factor. As said, really anything between 3-6 was splitting hairs. And even then, something like Cincy's win over Iron Mountain today really surprises me. As it gets a few more weeks into the season, it should really start to solidify.

It is fun to have discussion points and you guys have done nothing but take care of buisiness since the season started.

And you beat us, so you do indeed have the full right to question my sanity.

I'll probably throw another one out in a couple of days as we get going in the tournament and another regular season game under our belts.

You guys just beat Iron Mountain by 42, which is very impressive. We were very fortunate to beat you guys and I'm not even sure you were trying in the lol-preseason. Truthfully, we also changed up a lot for that game as a dry run for what we wanted to try against the Blaze to start the season. Probably messed up any "normal" scouting tendencies on that one...
