Sure tackle, power tackling, and helmet crash if you are going the big hit/monster hit route. And go on from there.

I'm going more the speed/agility always around the ball route, though respect Sweet Tea's swagger. Most of the defensive VAs have to do with deflecting passes or breaking blocks, which are both important to MLBs, but I'm hesitant to go with either since a mlb can be asked to play either roll. Basically I want something that's more of a benefit on every play.

Rolling for a tackle and force fumble takes place on every play... Unless the ball carrier goes untouched. Tackling VA's are best used for lbs and safetys and the occasional hard hitting corners. I'd start with Sure tackle.

Sure tackler is a good base and usefull if you play in every kind of situation. After that you can go fo power and actual MLB VA's. Just my opinion...

Slow Starter is iffy for Defense in my opinion. For one thing you'll likely be swapping every other play as a LB on defense anyway. 2 if your defense is good you'll get alot of 3 and outs dwindling your play count.
It's much more easily manipulated on offense
