I'm ok with reducing the percentage as when it got to 30% it was pretty crazy, but now only in Zone? Is there gunna be a new VA for Man Coverage Guys? This will hurt the Man Coverage Corner Immensley...

Agreed, what is this all about? Why completely remove one of the top 3 VA's from the man-specialist corner builds and not give back anything in return to mitigate the loss that substantial?

Because it made defending the passing game way too easy?

Some offensive VA's were nerfed as well fwiw. Swap to long reach and call it a day.

From the games I've seen Regional Pro and below, it does appear the DB's aren't closing as fast and more passes are being completed to the receivers, but I've not seen any disasters caused by the nerf. Although I saw someone post one in the forum in which he had 600 yards passing. That alone doesn't mean much, I've had several games in the past with that kind of yardage that weren't against CPU teams.

How is Long Reach going to help defensive dots, when the problem is reaching the WR in the first place? You can't deflect the ball from three yards away.

Build dots that aren't reliant of falling 3 yards behind the WR to be effective?

Seriously, though, tell me what would have happened on this play in previous seasons?

http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?game_id=1883786&pbp_id=87705

Or this one?

http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?game_id=1883786&pbp_id=87720

Both would have likely been interceptions and the first may have gone back for 6.

I do agree that people built to what worked in the sim and perhaps this should have been phased in (change it to 1% for man and zone for a time maybe?) but the old way was definitely a tad ridiculous (and I'm a defensive guy, fwiw).

Yea, for teams that I OC and other rival OC'ed teams, I just saw guys pounding the ball and throwing screens all game, because they couldn't make anything work in the vertical passing game. Only chance my offense had, vertically, was throwing to the HB/FB or crossing my fingers and hoping a WR out-muscles his manned CB.

This and maybe you're going to have to start giving a little cushion on your man 2 man slider now?

Perhaps for slower dots, yes.

Cushions, shells, even some zones: This is football; you're supposed to need them. Real teams need them.

Much as I enjoy giving all my dots 160 speed, I'm not sure I can do that with any sort of consistency (without completely stinking up the joint outside of speed).

I am not really arguing in favor of the old Ball Hawk, I just hate the fact that yet another nail has been driven into the coffin of any defensive back-7 build that isn't completely speed-reliant. I also hate the fact that two defensive VAs have been made almost completely irrelevant, but nothing has been added to replace them, meaning the short list of not-terrible VAs just got even shorter. I'd be more than happy to take a VA along the lines of "This player is adept at reading the quarterback, and receives a 1% bonus to speed and agility from the moment he recognizes the QB targeting his cover target, until the QB targets another player or a pass is thrown". (Note: Random half-arsed concept, may be horribly overpowered as listed, but you get the idea).

Mostly, I just hate being left completely out in the cold, without a single VA that really benefits a dot trying to cover a faster receiver (jamming at the line is clearly a pipe dream at this point, as is adequate double-coverage and safety help).

I think its been proven over and over that DBs don't need speed equal to the dot they're covering to stay in pretty good coverage. Ballhawk compounded that by allowing dots 15-20 points slower than a WR be in perfect coverage or allowed dots that bit on fakes to recover and actually be in better position than before the fake.

So far, I've played two games under the new sim (I'm haven't OD'd on scrim-on-demand like some, lol) and both were against solid opponents. I have the exact team this year that I had last and ran the exact defense I ran last year. Aside from some issues with my MLB not being able to cover as well as last season, I don't see a major shift and what I have seen is better.

"This player has a nose for the ball. Each level of Ball Hawk gives a 1% bonus to speed, agility and vision from the moment the player sees a pass coming until it is caught or dropped. Applies on offense and defenders in zone coverage."

Clarification on the bolded part...I know this now only applies to defenders in zone coverage, but there has been the question...does it mean - applies on offense (ONLY) when DEFENDERS ARE IN ZONE COVERAGE? Or would this apply to offense in any type of coverage?

+1: but the sim is what it is. Bort might un-nerf things a bit to make adjustment...but builds are going to have to catch up. On a side note, CB are going to be screwed for a while unless they give up something (Strength, Jump, or Tackling)... not everyone can cover like Charles Woodson & tackle like Troy Polamalu.
