Everyone is saying that Pass Rushing DTs just don't get the sacks. What affect does Vision have on a PR DT? What advantages does it give you?

Are we going so hard on STR/AGI/SPD that we are missing a Secondary that is needed to finish off the QB?

Is it best to build the PR DT as if all you really want to do is blow up the OL? With the OL out of the way as quick as possible it's just you and the QB/RB in the backfield. What is needed to whip the OL in front of you (considering G's and C's builds.)

Just looking for new build ideas that might lead to getting to the QB more often.

Also, before Level 5 (Season One with Boost for Level 4) what Skills are most important at the low levels?

well to get sacks from the DL spot in this game you either need to:

a) rev cake the guy in front of you and just run over him

or

b) slip around the OL and get past him, possibly without rev caking the guy

DT's have a real hard time with b), and a lot that go high on agility to try and achieve that wind up sucking. Vision could play a part in that, no one knows the true break block formula. You might as well try something a little off the wall since as long as you have enough STR to not get pancaked every play you'll do the same job as 95% of other DT's do anyway.

you want to get your majors as high as possible ASAP, so depending on archetype, str or agi need to get high and fast. Put all your EQ into STR or AGI early on as that will help your dude hold position on the line and break blocks.

My current level 73 DT will end up with

146.65 strength
101.17 agility
100.57 speed
77 vision
70 tackling
64 stamina
51 confidence
25 jumping
11 shed block (bonus SA)
10 first step

He already has 76 vision.

My current 77 DT has
152 strength
105 agility
70 speed
72 vision
75 tackling
72 vision
67 stamina
57 confidence
51 jumping
12 Wall
12 Break through
5 FS (will end up at 8)

My current 79 DT has
147 strength
102 agility
87 speed
70.5 vision
70 tackling
61 stamina
50 confidence
40 jumping

10 shed block
10 strong base
10 first step
8 tunnel vision
6 wall
7 breakthrough

None of them get a decent pass rush

The best way to get sacks as a DT is for the DC to send the DE outside him into the flat and drop 8 or 9 into coverage.

have not got any sacks on my lvl 23 this season but he does gets some hurries. (66 strength/77 agility/69 speed) I have all his EQ in strength of course so I plan on getting strength to 60 by the end of the season so he will have 80 strength with EQ by then. He does great on 3rd downs and is a great stop. Also have a pass rushing DE that plays next to him so the team we play must have agile OL on the left side. If the DC blitzed that side of the line every time we would get a hurry every time.

If you want more of a pass rusher you have to neglect tackling. Its the only thing that wont help you get to the QB.

wouldn't an increased tackling radius help to get sacks from longer range?

Jumping/Diving Tackel. I can see this being useful, and as an offset, if you are blocked you can still knock down the pass thus increasing your ability Vs. Pass. The question is, if TKL/VIS/JMP are all good to help you get the sacks... what things do you dumb down so you have the points for these?

Hence my 2 upcoming Level 31 DT's will test that theory. Currently have 90+ tackling natural and once speed is brought up in the future I'll see if it works.
