Nobody ever gave out the Season 2 MVP awards even after we voted for them, why do it again for season 3?

I always thought the MVP should be the player that if all of the players in a league were cut, and a draft of those players was instituted, would be the consensus #1 pick.
Don't get me wrong, he's a really good kicker. I just wouldn't call him the league MVP. Maybe the team MVP.
