I created my OT prior to the beginning of Season 2 to help out my team. He was slated to start at LT right away and would immediately be out-leveled by most of the DE freaks in our league.

So I made the decision to make him a pass-blocking specialist: I went heavy into Blocking, agility and the Pass Block SA's (particularly 'Protect') and kinda pumped up Strength as an afterthought.

The result? Only 39 pancakes that season - 33 against a gutted team and the other 6 against a player half my level. Other than that, dude couldn't bust a grape.

Dude also didn't give up a sack all season. Once he got his mitts on those DE freaks, it was game over. It was beautiful to watch.

This season though, our team got off to a rough start and our Oline was called out for not being strong enough. The magic number bandied about was 60 in Strength, and only one guy (the RG) had it. So we were all encouraged to retool our guys.

A few days ago, my LT was a perfect balance of 56/56 in Strength and Blocking, with a big fat 5 in 'Protect'. After retooling, my beautiful 'dancing bear' is now a big ol' grizzly with a 68/45 balance.

Did I go too far with the retooling? Will he still be effective in shutting down pass-rushing animals? My league has some of the best-built DE's in all of GLB - will my guy still get it done in you folks' opinion?...

If what you were doing was working why change? It makes no since to me. The people bitching do the have an players that play on the OL? Most don't know what they are talking about. I would not have change a thing as long as the QB was protected and the RB could run off my left hip.

If you are on the pass blocking left side, pancakes are no indicator of how good a job you are doing. Left side generally plays better balanced than strength heavy.
