Why oh why does it take 2 CB's away from who they cover to double instead of the safeties? Makes no sense AT ALL, or is this a bug? Did I miss something? I never tried that defense before, and it ended up losing us the game.

Safeties go into cover 2 zone instead of covering WR1 and WR2. WTF?

Nickel does not do this, and uses the safeties.

No, it is working as intended. I looked at the name of the play and not the very tiny picture, and I assumed the safeties in the nickel version would act the same way in the play with the same name in the quarter version.

The picture is pretty tiny, tbh.

There are some pre-set quarter defenses intended for 5-wide sets. They're toward the bottom of the list, with names beginning "5 WR Quarter."
