Usual disclaimer: this is my opinion only. If you don’t like it, I still love you.
Welcome to television week, featuring some of my favs throughout the years.
Picks record this season: 106-54
lolAlpha
Game of the Week
Machu Picchu Hidden Dragons (9-1) v Odessa Mojo (9-1)
Let the battle for first place commence. Two of the more well known teams in the GLB Community http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tFJMO63ZlQs collide for what could turn out to be the #1 seed, although there is still some lolregularseason left to play. Odessa has won 7 straight and seems intent upon retaining their title while the big question with MPHD is whether or not aging will kill their chances. I think this one turns out different in week 1. Odessa 31, MPHD 24
Other Games
Korb Destroyers (8-2) v Dallas Longhorns (7-3)
Korb is rolling and Dallas is reeling and it remains to be seen which of those trends continues in this one. Dallas must feel like their normal world was swept up by a tornado and taken to Oz http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K7w49aAaweA where winning is not something they do. Momentum is a powerful thing in GLB and it could spell good things for Korb. Korb 38, Dallas 28
Cincinnati Shockers (7-3) v C-Town MF’n Hood (5-5)
Two teams running hot now run into each other, which means one has to cool down while the other keeps heating up. It’s going to take some Dexter http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ej8-Rqo-VT4 type surgical precision on offense for Hood to be able to take down a Cincy team that has really found themselves and on the road to boot. Cincy 34, Hood 20
E-City Mercenaries (6-4) v Carthage Mad Clash (3-7)
ECM beat out their evil twin last week to stay over .500 and hopes to keep up the fight enough to make the big dance when the regular season is said and done. Carthage is probably going nowhere except back to Africa after getting housed by Krungthep but I know they aren’t calling it quits just yet and I expect them to come out fighting like Mad Men http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WcRr-Fb5xQo ECM 42, Carthage 16
Krungthep Garudas (5-5) v Milwaukee Juggernaughts (3-7)
This game is like gold sometimes where you just forget what you were doing that made you successful. That happen to Krungthep for a few games but it seems they are back and really looking good right now. The Juggs are headed the opposite direction and could very well be Six Feet Under http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KYAe0qwg9Yw soon. Garudas 45, Juggs 20
Sumatra Seahawks (3-7) v The Drunken Addicts of Omerta (3-7)
Both of these teams have been competitive at times this season but not quite consistent enough to get it done. The winner however is still not quite dead yet and may find some momentum. Granted, one of these teams making the playoffs may seem like something from the X-Files http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JDZBgHBHQT8 but stranger things have happened. Sumatra 26, Omerta 17
Nashville Hounds (5-5) v Tyrrhenian Sea Wasps (0-10)
No offense to TSW but they have been the answer to a lot of teams’ ills this season. This week they could be just the MASH http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3TQIi77XsyM unit Nashville needs to stay relevant in the playoff race. Hounds 45, TSW 16
Lincoln Navigators (5-5) v Moosejaw Roughriders (2-8)
Lincoln is looking to be helpful and aid MJ in achieving their first losing record in WL in quite some time. Isn’t that nice of them? Lincoln could use the win after having their momentum broken last week. Moose won’t give up but they’d need to Stargate http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K41iLYVCBeg in some jaffa to beat these guys. Lincoln 49, Moose 20

Zeta
Game of the Week
Canton Immortals (8-2) v Somalia Pirates (7-3)
Two teams that look to be serious threats in Zeta are an easy GoTW choice this time out. Canton survived Paris and took first place from them while Somalia won their fourth straight and is now just one game out of the top spot. This may be a regular season game but I expect a playoff-type feel for the seeding. Which team draws True Blood http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wet5OM7RR8Q here? Canton 34, Somalia 31
Other Games
Paris Musketeers (8-2) v Eastern European Alliance (6-4)
EEA is in that large cluster of teams sitting at 6-4 and I know they don’t want to be the one on the outside looking in when this is said and done. Paris meanwhile was sitting alone in first place with a two game cushion just two weeks ago and are now are in second via tie-breakers. They’ve lost 2 straight while EEA has won 2 straight. Will Paris break their negative momentum or fall to a third straight loss like they’ve been hit by the Sopranos http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NUT07eZoXPw Paris 33, EEA 27
Honolulu Hurricane Wife Carriers (7-3) v Three Kingdom Warriors (1-9)
TKW somehow stole their first win of the season last time out with their vaunted S13 offense carrying the day. HHWC rolled up a big 4th quarter on the Monks and they are the hottest team going right now in Zeta. It’s All In The Family http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=znrjbo9QRLk for this one. HHWC 56, TKW 3
Sofia Spiders (6-4) v Krakow Ice Dragons (2-8)
Krakow has lost 8 straight after winning their first two, but they seem to compete almost every time they step onto the field. Sofia has won 2 straight after their stunning loss to the Monks and they probably would like to avoid that here. They best bust out their serious Kung Fu http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gEtKj6keoYU or KID could steal this one from them. Sofia 30, KID 24
East St. Louis Tire Fires (6-4) v Indianapolis Gurupies (5-5)
Usually the regular season is your stereotypical lol for these guys but the loser isn’t going to think it’s so funny this time, I assure you. With the glut of teams sitting right in range to steal a playoff spot, each W will be critical. Indy has been a bit cold lately while ESL seems to be kinda back and forth. For this one I expect rusty to get his good ‘ol boys together like the Dukes of Hazzard http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q8m--165r48 and play well. ESL 42, Indy 30
Rosarica Titans of Fire (6-4) v Providence Radicals (3-7)
On the cusp of getting back into the picture just a little bit, Providence apparently overlooked TKW and went down in surprising fashion. Seinfeld http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=epb5HCZNBZQ may have some sort of joke about that but I doubt Providence does. RTF meanwhile had their nice win streak broken by Sofia last time and are probably not in a joking mood either. RTF 30, Providence 13
Mayan Prophecy (6-4) v Alpine (5-5)
Mayan got back on track with a massive effort in points production while Alpine’s astounding free-fall through the standings continues. Despite losing 4 straight though, they are only 1 game out of the playoff picture. They better get in gear real quick though because a lot of other teams are in that same range and many of them a game ahead. Will Mayan be one of those teams to stay ahead of Alpine? Just another day at the Office http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QR1MizGhbkE Mayan 34, Alpine 30
Queensland Exiles (2-8) v Palembang Royally Drunken Monks (2-8)
Oh, the drama. Which team picks up that all important third win of the season and stays mathematically alive in the playoffs, although realistically in the shitter? QE is a bit colder having lost 4 straight instead of just 2 but this will be about as civil as a Sons of Anarchy http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Md2BndgLG5E episode. Monks 35, QE 24
Usual disclaimer: this is my opinion only. If you don’t like it, I still love you.
