I see that quite a few teams are built purely for the passing game. Multiple passing QBs, no blocking TE, all scat-backs.

Is this because you've seen it work and don't feel the need to improvise, or are you just certain that this is the only way to go?

Because if so... I'm going old school this season and I'm building closer to my old team (including lol rushing QBs that can be tagged and shot)... I wonder if I can make it work, or if this really is the only way to go in PW.

Running last 2 seasons has been a big fail for me. Seems like the trend = scat attack with speedy wr's to keep them honest and if they double down on the hb/fb they could get burnt for a td over the top

It's largely b/c inside rushing was nerfed and passing to the HB's works well.

I've always (and always will be) a proponent of having a rushing QB on the roster, even if you're a passing team, but that's just me. IMO that just gives you more possible areas of a defense to exploit.

I think it's because the run was nerfed in S20... Bort slowed down the inside run speeds of the HBs/FBs because of the Dline positioning being fixed and there being gaping holes in the Dline.

I think it would be tough to have success with a run first team now.. especially later in the season with teams hit L12 and L13 and the defenders are reacting faster.

Just my 2 cents..

Not to mention there are a ton of new plays coming. I'll tell you right now that at the end of the season we'll have teams bitching about how they had figured out the perfect builds to win in S22, but then Bort changed things (think of the b-fest after deep passing was nerfed), this game is stupid, etc.

There appear to be a lot more rushing QB plays and some pretty cool things with the FB as well as a lot more of everything in general.

I, personally, would want to be set-up to run whatever might work. As we all know, it only takes 1-2 plays that are overpowered and the builds to make them even better to win a championship. If that's an OT QB rush (just throwing out an example, I don't have any inside info) I guarantee there will be a lot of people (not surprisingly it would be those w/o a rushing QB & blocking TE) that are upset by the new changes.

Not that I have seen this happen numerous times in the past, or anything, though....

There seem to be a lot more screens on the books, which will only increase the value of the scat attack.

The vision check that you need to pass to cover the screen on defence is much harder to pass than to read the run.

There is a reason why FG has a little of everything, to make sure we aren't killed by any nerfs. I can change from a running team to a passing team and back with a couple of changes.

Same here, it's good to be versatile, especially since we have to make all players before we have any sort of news on what the sim will be like the next season. S22 especially with all the new plays coming out, who knows what kind of personnel will be needed. It's also nice to have the ability to switch up the game strategy based on the opponent so you don't get brick-walled by a team that is just really good at stopping one thing.

The slam it out to win offense will never die, but do I think you need a team built for running to utilize it? No...

I think people are building passing teams because when DCs are looking to stop the run... its done easily... but when they are looking to stop the pass... no matter your player builds you can still break off some yardage in the running game.

Now a team built for passing against a team not built defensively to stop the pass has a huge advantage no matter the DCs effort, thus it makes sense to build a passing team.

Now do I think teams will sell out and REALLY build a passing team-no, I think they intend to build the same ole way they have been, just with more depth at WR and QB and scatbacks rather than lol powerbacks or speedsters.

My lol powerbacks have always put up great yardage. Especially against teams that are built to stop the pass... you don't have the strength and tackling to stop my powerback.

Remember that it's much easier to scout a rushing game than a passing game and if someone sees that you are a rushing team, especially one with PB's, a good DC will make adjustments.
