The point is that 9/10 of the leading receivers are HBs... end of story that is completely and totally outrageous and something needs to be done about it.It's not outrageous, it's simple math. your argument is what's outrageous. I give you numbers, you gave me an opinion. show me some numbers to prove your point.
did you notice that BNI's receiving HB is on that list? But we throw 50% more often to WRs for about twice the yards. my point wasn't that we throw more to WRs than HBs, and it's not limited to just BNI...my point was that our HB is ranked higher than our WRs despite throwing 50% more often to WRs as opposed to RBs.
Show me how many teams have vastly larger passing stats on their HBs versus their combined WR stats.
Have offensive stats, in general, gone up because the HB/FB throws are working? no...200 yards offense is about the same difficulty to achieve as it used to be. passing to the HB/FB hasn't increased anybody's offensive output...it has only given them some extra options for moving the ball.
Sooooooooo, offensive stats have only shifted around. Teams are still putting up more or less similar offensive yardages, first downs, TDs, YAC, etc. They are just doing with HB/FB thows in addition to all the previously available options.
If you want good WRs to be able to compete with the good recieving HBs/FBs, in terms of the existing ranking system, then you have three options: (1) nerf the HB/FB throw; (2) run the same number of HBs as you do WRs; (3) change the receiver rankings so they aren't biased as much by total yards as they are yards/catch (in other words normalize in such a way that you aren't skewed inversely to how many players you have at that position).
edited math error...
...was comparing yardages when I was talking about catches and vice versa...should be correct now
