Annoys me to death how Gold has turned into Scat Ball. Exploit? I'll let you judge for yourself what it is. I'm just sayin. It really makes me miss Bleeds and his stretch the field vertical passing attack. BTW, the following are the top 10 Reception Leaders by Position
HBCaleb Bradshaw,HBMonty HB, HBLevon ~Luscious~ Forbes, HBBill Dugg, WRAlfred Staley, HBBVP21, HBAdmiral Clown, HBBNI Scat, FBSAS FB Scat, HBHugh Dunnitt

Cliff notes = 9 of the top 10 reception leaders in Gold are HB/FB

What do you expect? Old defense= Blitz from the corners, New defense= Play zones and deep cutting off WRs

As in any league of football, you take what they give you. In this day and age, the Hbs and Fbs get a lot of one on one action while TEs, and Wrs are doubled. Ive seen some triple covered. I think most settle for the short yardage by a HB/FB by keeping it somewhat safe than allowing a speed WR to go the dstance on one play.

In the passing nerf they implemented a few seasons ago, they made it much harder to catch a deep ball, especially when running at full speed. This alone nerfed nearly all deep WR & TE routes. They also made it easier to catch the short passes, so naturally you would start to throw to your HB & FB more often.

Then the bug was discovered where players out of the backfield were given a much larger cushion than they should get and everyone started to pass to the HB & FB. They said they fixed that, but only some as I still see LB's lay off a HB or FB out of the backfield. Plus with the bonus to screen passes, it's just natural that people will use the shorter passes more often.

Y you never know when a HB or FB might slip by their single coverage person and go the distance. When you play the odds, it's just much safer to the short passes a lot, which tend to focus on HB's & FB's. However, as DC's start to double the HB & FB more often, good OC's are starting to use the deep ball a little more, so things are slowly evening out. I bet if you could compare the first half of the season to the 2nd half, you will see a lot more WR & TE passes in the 2nd half.

I think it's just inflated numbers from our rosters. Most people usually have a lot of WRs and only a few receiving HBs and FBs...We all are playing with maximum depth (i.e. all WRs in teh generic WR slot on a 98/99 energy rotation...so it's pretty much random odds of which WR gets the ball. Meanwhile, HB throws are going to 2 or 3 HBs at most.

BNI has 1 receiving HB, 1 receiving FB, 2 receiving TEs, and 6 receiving WRs. Only natural that the WRs are getting shafted on yards because there are so damn many.

our receiving HB has about 3 times as many catches as the FB (100 vs 29). That is largely from screens, I think, but also from the "over powered" plays like strong flood and flanker drag that don't have FB counter parts. Yardage is a bit more exaggerated, 1051.5 yards and 18 TDs (hb) vs 220 yards and only 3 TDs (FB)...again, prolly because the type of plays they are getting catches on. If you land the HB throw on strong flood, you are getting 15 yards or more, most of the time...with a decent chance of a TD.

Combine our two TEs and they are getting close to the HB, but not quite there, especially not in TDs.

Total WR receptions, though, is 156 for 2305 yards and 35 TDs.

Good argument Eagle, except.... that was never the case in seasons past, even when then teams were running 9-10 WRs, the WR was still the reception leader... not the friggin FB/HB... that is just silly... and the point is that the passes are fucking lame.

well, obviously if the HB can't catch...then he's not gonna be anywhere near the top of the rankings...

my point was that right now, the HB and FB throws work...but they aren't necessarily being favored. BNI, for example, has been hitting WRs about 50% more often than the HB. So we're using scats...but not exclusively...and we favor WRs.

You aren't at all arguing anything by saying that one team isn't passing to the HB on every play...

The point is that 9/10 of the leading receivers are HBs... end of story that is completely and totally outrageous and something needs to be done about it.

It's not outrageous, it's simple math. your argument is what's outrageous. I give you numbers, you gave me an opinion. show me some numbers to prove your point.

did you notice that BNI's receiving HB is on that list? But we throw 50% more often to WRs for about twice the yards. my point wasn't that we throw more to WRs than HBs, and it's not limited to just BNI...my point was that our HB is ranked higher than our WRs despite throwing 50% more often to WRs as opposed to RBs.

Show me how many teams have vastly larger passing stats on their HBs versus their combined WR stats.

Have offensive stats, in general, gone up because the HB/FB throws are working? no...200 yards offense is about the same difficulty to achieve as it used to be. passing to the HB/FB hasn't increased anybody's offensive output...it has only given them some extra options for moving the ball.

Sooooooooo, offensive stats have only shifted around. Teams are still putting up more or less similar offensive yardages, first downs, TDs, YAC, etc. They are just doing with HB/FB thows in addition to all the previously available options.

If you want good WRs to be able to compete with the good recieving HBs/FBs, in terms of the existing ranking system, then you have three options: (1) nerf the HB/FB throw; (2) run the same number of HBs as you do WRs; (3) change the receiver rankings so they aren't biased as much by total yards as they are yards/catch (in other words normalize in such a way that you aren't skewed inversely to how many players you have at that position).

edited math error......was comparing yardages when I was talking about catches and vice versa...should be correct now

Your not rubbing anything in my face, your not even making sense... again it is absolutely stupid that only 1 WR can make it on to the list, your making an argument trying to claim that HB passing isn't overpowered... I'm making the argument that WR passing is underpowered... and saying that you throw more to your WRs and your HB is still your leading receiver is only helping my argument.

In order to succeed in passing you HAVE to check down to your HB or just hope for a pump fake on a receiver route... drop drop drop, deflected from 20 feet behind, ahh... finally a pump fake catch... that is really the kind of sim I enjoy watching.

I don't think HB/FB passing is overpowered, it's just the flavor of choice for most at the moment. DC's just haven't figured out how to shut it down yet. Eventually, DC's will begin to sacrifice coverage in other areas to prevent it (such as no double on WR or TE?). Then OC's will start to exploit how easy it is to pass to TE's/WR's again. If you think about it, it shouldn't surprise you that passing to WR's is way down. I mean if you look at what DC's are doing (generally double and triple covering WR's), you really shouldn't have much success passing to them. Would everyone be "happier" if we were completing 75% of our passes to WR's that were double/triple teamed? Hell no. DC's would be going ape shit about "how the fuck do you stop the passing game if triple coverage isn't enough"? I would think that it's pretty realistic that when facing a team that covers the HB/FB with only a LB or Safety, but WR's get doubled, that you would have more completions to the HB/FB. Whether that be due to intentionally passing to them, or by way of check-downs. Just my $.02.

Edit to add: This of course coming from the guy that owns the #1 Receiving back in the league

"your" is possessive, "you're" means "you are." to avoid confusion, just remember the apostrophe means letters are left out...so only one of them could possibly be "you are" and thus the other has to be the possessive version. same trick works for its and it's, which people butcher all the time.

correct usage: "you're an idiot"
correct usage: "your argument is stupid"

thanks for reading my post...obviously you can't argue math logic with somebody who doesn't understand math...

so let's have a math lesson...feel free to use a calculator if you need to...

1000 / 5 = 200

1000 / 1 = 1000

If you put up 1000 passing yards with 5 WRs, then your passing stats are distributed across 5 WRs, hence 200 yards per game per WR.

if you put up 1000 passing yards with 1 HB, then that lucky bastard gets all the stats to himself, hence 1000 yards per game per HB.

HB passing is not overpowered...the player rankings aren't weighted to account for how many players you have at a given position. If you wanna argue for changing the rankings, go ahead...and in fact I agree. But don't use a biased ranking system as an argument that the HB throw is overpowered.
