L.A. won their last 3 playoff games including the championship by a combined 10 points in one of the most exciting championship runs ever. They will have a very tough time trying to repeat this season in a conference that is stacked to the hilt. The Halos rematch against the Pelicans comes early this season when they host #2 Louisiana in week 3.
#2-Louisiana Screaming Pelicans(17-2)-Louisiana starts off in the #2 slot after rolling over most of the league last year in dominating fashion. The Pelicans are also the defending GLB tourney champion after crushing every team they faced last season. They would easily be the #1 seed if it weren't for the pesky Halos who kept the Pelicans off the field in 2 losses last season, including the conference championship. Louisiana can get the monkey off their back in week 3 when they travel to face L.A.
#3-Doinitin Djibouti(15-3)-The Djibouti went 14-2 in Elite #1 last season and secure the #3 spot in the poll. Doinitin lost in the 2nd round of the playoffs against the Halos in a heart-breaking loss, 35-38.The Djibouti open the season against one of the tougher western conference teams, Great Songs(18-1) in week 1. The Djibouti has what it takes to win it all.
#4 Tradewest Battletoads-(15-5)-Tradewest starts off the poll in the #4 slot after nearly upsetting the Halos in the championship game last season. The Toads were in a position to win, but gave up some big plays late and came up short, 24-27. They are the highest ranking elite #1 team from Zeta. They end the season facing 7 top 10 teams in a row, and play a 3 game stretch early vs last seasons top zeta teams.
#5 Texas Lone Stars(13-5)-The Lone Stars begin season 21 as the #5 seed after going 12-4 last season. Texas ended up losing in the 2nd round of the playoffs to the #2 Louisiana Screaming Pelicans, 59-0. They will be looking to rebound after that horrific loss and have struggled a little bit in preseason.The toughest part of the schedule is in the middle, and they end the season against the Pelicans in a game that could have playoff implications.
#6-World Legends(12-5)-The Legends start in the #6 slot after going 12-4 last season in alpha. They lost in the first round of the playoffs against the Lone Stars, 23-21, but they had their chances. The Legends bring some of the best built dots in the league to the table so they should be a serious force to be reckoned with. They have more of a balanced schedule, and it gets started early when they travel to face the Mayan Prophecy in week 2.
#7 Windsor Nobles(14-5)-The Nobles went all the way to the conference championship last season only to fall 13-0 to the Battletoads in a defensive war. The Nobles start off with the #7 seed, and it will be tested early when they host the #2 Louisiana Screaming Pelicans in week 2, but the meat of their schedule is in the middle.
#8 Stuttgart Blitzkrieg(13-5)- Stuttgart starts off as the #8 after going 12-4 and going to the 2nd round of the playoffs from zeta last season. They ended up losing to #4 Tradewest, 19-0 in the 2nd round, but they are looking to rebound with an impressive preseason. The Blitzkrieg will be tested early as they face #4 Tradewest on week 2 and #3 Doinitin week 3.
#9 Cheers is filmed in front of a live studio audience(12-6) -Cheers starts off the poll in the #9 hole, after going 11-5 last season and winning their first round playoff game against the Canucklehead Brigade, 24-17. They have some quick early tests with the Village Dogs week 2, followed by the #4 Battletoads week 3. They finish the season vs the Halos in a game that could have playoff implications.
#10 Canucklehead Brigade(12-5) - The Brigade comes in at the #10 spot after going 12-4 in zeta last season. They ended up forcing their first round playoff game to OT before #9 Cheers ended the dream once and for all. The Brigade have a brutal open to the season facing 6 teams from the preseason top 10 in their first 7 games.
