Sorry for the delay. There are A LOT of good games this week, making it tough to decide game of the week.
The Top Eight
1. Berlin Stormtroopers (LW 2):
After throughly beating Vatican, they have impressed me enough such that I move them to the number 1 spot. In addition, their star RB has climbed back on top of the rushing leaderboard to take the place of our RB. It will be a close race all season long between the two. Their next 3 games are versus opponents with a combined record of 14-1, so they are going to be in quite a battle to maintain their spot.
2. Buffalo Buffalos(LW 1):
THe game versus the Vikings was not a big blowout as expected. Given that Berlin was able to blow out the Vikings, they fall to the number 2 spot. They face a Vatican team that recently got blown out by Berlin.
3. Rome Gladiators (LW 3):
Blowing out P-Ville doesn't give me anymore information, so they stay at 3rd. They face the Titans who are still searching for a signature win.
4. Kilkenny Sidhe(LW 5):
Like in the Buffalo game, they go on a absolute tear in the 4th quarter, only this time, it was enough to get a 1 point win. They face another tough matchup versus Dublin Fighting Irish. Hopefully for them, they won't have to rely on a 4th quarter comeback to win it.
5. London Rippers (LW 4)
We are the Boston Red Sox of Zeta Conference. We have good talent, but we manage to lose in heartbreaking ways. Our last 3 losses, extending back to the playoffs last season, all came in games where we were ahead with 1 minute left in the 4th quarter. Hopefully our fan base won't become too cynical. The worst part is, I watched these games play by play without knowing the score beforehand. Good game Sidhe. We face a much improved Dublin Shamrocks team as we both fight to maintain a record above .500.
6. DrUnKiN LuNaTiCs Beer (LW 6):
The Beer is at 6th, what else is new? The week 1 game is the only reason I am not pushing them past us. The game versus Tranmere was close in points, but very dominant in terms of yardage, with them outgaining the Titans by around 200 yards. If they beat Berlin, they have the chance to finally get out of the 6 spot I seem to keep putting these guys.
7. Dublin Shamrocks (LW 7):
They beat BC in a very close game, and since they have more wins against quality opponents, they edge out Dublin Fighting Irish for the 7 spot. Many of there games have been relitivly close, and the following game should be no exception.
8. Dublin Fighting Irish (LW 8):
There only 2 losses are to a 4-1 team and a 5-0 team, but yet again, two of their wins are versus teams that are really struggling. They wil have a chance to really show who they are in the game versus the Sidhe.
The others
9. Tranmere Titans
10. BC Crew
11. The Vatican Paladins
12. Munich Hofbräuhaus
13. Dublin Vikings
14. Leeds Cougars
15. P-Ville Powerhouse
16. Camelot Crush
GAME OF THE WEEK
So many games to choose from!
Berlin versus Beer
A true tragedy that a team from Berlin must face off against Beer. ON the serious side, this is a major test for Berlin to show if my ranking of them is legit. After the first game, the Beer won consistantly versus good teams.
Honerable mention
London Rippers vs. Dublin Shamrocks
Because I like attention.
