Why is it so many OC's are living by the FB or HB Pass? It's LOL to watch a team call the same play 20 times living by the exploit. If thats what you have to do to get the win you wont be getting a GG from me. This community should not accept it.

Teams are wising up and starting to put better and/or double coverage on those plays and they are not netting the same completion percentage or yards as they had been. It's all about adjusting your defense. Personally, I am having one hell of a time doing so on defense this season, but other teams are doing it well.

Teams are starting to contain those plays. It is opening inside rushing up a lot more than it was. It is hard to cheat on defense and you are forced to defend everything, quite challenging for DCs.

Using those plays opens up the field for your WR/TE passing along with the inside running. I don't see a problem with that and I agree with your assessment.

I noticed it, but didnt want to say anything about it since this is my first season in gold, I just figured thats how you guys up here played.....

It gets annoying as hell but it works so most OC's are gonna keep using it. I have about 3 or 4 games this season where my opponents pass to the HB/FB 90+% of the time. Oh well, you just go back to your defensive drawing board and try and come up with plays that will stop it. Like my dad always told me..........theres no crying in football !

Wasn't this last seasons news? Or are you just upset that even more teams are latching on? WRs are inconstistent to say the least. No signficant amount of catching can fix pee wee passing to wr's but apparently HB/FB's don't need any.

Remember when some of you argued that passing was overpowered again or fixed? This is what you get. If they'd fix it so you could really pass consistently to the WR's, then you'd have a better go at it from the OC's. Our DSBT is in Silver, but we throw it well enough. Our team leaders for receptions looks like this.

HB - 25
WR -- 22
HB -- 19
TE -- 19
WR -- 17
WR -- 16
WR -- 10
TE -- 9
FB -- 6
FB (scat) -- 5

The first TE leads in yardage, and the HB's are 2 and 3. One also has 13 drops. That being said, I have 5 with over 300 yards of receiving and 7 with over 200. When I look at the league leaders, HB's are the top 4 and 6 out of the top 10. People are going with what works. You can't fault them for it.

I remember when DC's basically just put the DE's outside the tackle, slid the LB's next to them, and put the safeties outside the DE's and just blitzed everyone because you couldn't complete a pass to a WR or a back. Games were having 15+ sacks/hurries and no yardage.

Somewhere the SIM has to find a happy medium. I just scouted our offense for all of our regular games. Granted, I haven't really adjusted it all season. Here's the pass plays.

SB Cross up -- 12/26
SG Quick In -- 11/22
SB Up and Over -- 10/22
SI Cross Up -- 7/18
I TE Slant -- 15/18 (16.75 avg)
SG Double Slant -- 14/17 (14.79 avg)
SB TE Cross Slant -- 7/16
SB Reverse Slant -- 9/14 (18.57 avg)
SG Flood Right -- 9/13 (14.19 avg)
SB Quick Cutback -- 6/6 (16.58 avg)
SI FB Streak -- 4/6 (21.08 avg)

I didn't list them all, but you can see that a lot of those routes are either for the WR/TE or have the HB going up the field. The backs are typically 4 and 5 in my progressions unless I'm specifically trying to get them the ball in space.

We still run it 2/3 of the time (Partly because of the clock kill stuff if I don't have the chuck it everywhere blowout stuff in), but we throw it okay and try to mix it up. If you want to fuss about something, fuss about how there is no real way to prevent the WR screen from SB from gaining 3 yards or more every play because the defender goes backwards at the snap.

Sorry, I'm done rambling now.

My Passing game has never been anything special, but Dirty leads Gold in Passing Yards and Yards per Completion up to this point in the season. All total 54 of 193 Completions to the HB/FB or roughly 28%. I don't see why so many are having problems passing? IMO OC's are just using the HB/FB attack to keep from putting in the time game planning.

You only throw to your TEs which do most of the work and one of your WRs might have a decent game. Most of your games your wrs are 0-5, 1 for 6, and so on. The only reason why your team is #1 in passing is your blow out win over SAS when we were fully boosted. You passed for 714 yds and only rushed for a few. There is always more to the story than what is told by the author

I honestly like this seasons sim. You can usually find holes in the other team's pass D to exploit with WRs and TEs as well as with the backs. Pretty much anytime a WR is in single coverage you can find a way to get them the ball. It takes more work than pump fake streaks or slamming it every play, but I really like the balance of this sim.

Actual strategy comes into play as far as when to rush inside and pass because if a team has a solid defense they can actually stop both of those now. Scouting is a lot bigger factor and actually finding holes in the opponents D rather than just sticking with the same go-to plays all season. Yes, there are some plays still that seem to work better than others, but part of that (especially in passing) is that they're are just flat out better designs. Half the passing plays in the playbook aren't going to be good pretty much no matter how well your receivers can catch the ball because they have routes colliding at 5 yards and doing other stupid shit.

I think it's kind of lame that some people are still trying to just use the plays that people have trouble stopping without bothering to scout each team specifically, but I think that will come back to bite them in the playoffs when teams set up a lot more to stop their tendencies. Any play is stoppable if you're willing to sacrifice in some other area. As a defense, it isn't possible to shut down absolutely every option or else this would be a pretty boring game.

The whole fun as an OC is trying to figure out what it is that a defense is giving up, and finding those holes to attack in order to be effective. I imagine it's pretty similar for DCs trying to determine an offense's tendencies and selling out where neccessary to stop a bread and butter play, or backing off and playing it safe if the offense attacks with many different options in a certain situation. What fun is there in a game where you don't do any scouting and just set the exact same plays over the course of the season? I guess you get to win some if you have a good setup but it doesn't seem nearly as rewarding as if you scout the team and then see those plays you put in find that hole you thought you saw and get you the win. This whole thing is about having fun right? It is supposed to be a game after all...
