Week 2: 7-1
Week 3: 6-2
Week 4: 7-1
Week 5: 6-2
Season: 26-6
Well, The Reapers and the D-Monks are out so show me they hate me. I get it. The nerve. Moved the wrong direction away from perfection last week.... But we'll see if this week's games are any better.
Game of the Week
Belfast Mafia at Transylvania Bloodsuckers
Belfast is stepping up to the plate to prove they are a team to be feared in this conference. They have knocke doff a couple great teams on their 5-0 march. Unfortunately, I think it's time to add the first number to the L column. Belfast will be playing a home game come playoff time, but this game is going to be the Suckers putting on a show for the home crowd, themselves. The weakest part of the Belfast crew is their secondary. I don't think they'll be able to shut down a Suckers passing game for 4 quarters. In a game like this.... sometimes all it takes is one play. And this offense is a big play waiting to happen. Great setting. Great teams. Great game. But I feel like the Suckers snag this one by a couple scores.
Warsaw Knuckleheads at Kilkenny Cannibals
Kilkenny is fielding a good team. But so is Warsaw. Warsaw's high-powered offense had a 2-game stumble there against the stronger SoYo and Bloodsuckers, but they found their way again last week. Kilkenny will have their hands full containing that offense. But they are up for the challenge--even if it is going to be an uphill battle.
Crimson and Cream Sooner Machine at Vatra Dornei Wraiths
CCSM still fielding a LB corps. of CPU's. Hard to pick in their favor with that to consider. Actually, I just can't do it. The Wraiths are really underachieving this season and need to get a spark to ignite their season. This could be the chance for that. CCSM is still needing to add some personnel to their ranks, and it's only going to get harder as the season progresses.
Grim Reapers at Amsterdam Arctic Blast
The preseason favorites have suddenly found 2 losses on their plate and are one loss away from being a .500 team. Who would've thought that coming in? Not I. The Reapers are still defying me on a weekly basis, despite the kind words I gave them in the first edition of my predictions. Some people are just ungrateful. Despite Amsterdam's record, they are still one of the teams to beat in this conference. They have the talent on the roster. They just need to get their tactics clicking, and they will be powerful. Reapers on the other hand seem to be very adept tacticians. That could easily win this game for them. But I have to give the adge to the Blast just from the stadpoint of talent and the status of the must-win nature of this game for them.
London Brawling Tommies at Ithaca Space Munkees
I really don't know what to say here. I'm not going to insult either team. I respect them both. But realistically, from a pure football standpoint... I don't know. Someone has to win. Ithaca has improved more since the beginning of the season than London has. It's damn hard for me to pick in favor of a team yet to score a point... but I feel like Ithaca walks away with the win in this one.
South Yorkshire Stars at Oklahoma (U.S.A.) Outlaws
SoYo is hot. Can't pick against them. Not at any odds. Dominating offense and a smothering defense. Oklahoma is not a bad team at all, but this game is just not going to fall their way.
Basin City Blues at St. Louis Storm
BCB keeps rolling after a couple of tough losses to those early teams. I told you I ddn't really expect them to lose much more, and I hold to that. A very talented roster on both sides of the ball. These two teams are like night and day. If BCB jumps to an early lead, this game is locked down. And I think that's what's going to happen. St.L will get AI'd into passing the ball more, and I don't think they can compete with BCB in that type of game. But it's a Sim, after all... Anything can happen.
Dublin Drunken Monkeys at Wrexham Maelor Brionnfhionn
D-Monks are playing great football lately. They're on a pretty good hot streak, minus the single los they have. They are a very complete team, and I think that level of completeness will just suffocate Wrexham this game. But they are no slouch of a team. Not by a long shot. Just feel like this will be Dublin's day.
----------------------------------------------
So there ya have it. Late this week, I know. Been busy. But my pusuit of perfection continues to elude me. Will this week be the week? There are 8 teams out there that definitely hope it isn't. Will any of them have their wish granted? We'll know soon enough.

I don't blame ya for picking the Arctic Blast to escape the even colder finger of Death this week, but I hope you won't mind too terribly if we somehow manage to once again foil your "Grim" visions of doom....
