Here's the play: http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?game_id=1569534&pbp_id=6989516

It's my D so I test AI'd and looked at the corresponding play.

Both the MLB/LOLB if the play were to be a pass have the following progressions: TE > WR1 and then the final option being zone.

It's the only play I had in the game for that situation.

Here's other replays of that exact play popping up in the same situation (Strong I, 3rd or 4th down and under 2 yards).

Wasn't able to find much else but if you need more info let me know.

They did exactly what you asked them to in my opinion. They saw the TE was not going out for a pass and headed for WR1 on the left side. Once they could see that it was a run(ball carrier passed the line of scrimmage) They headed for him. Unless I didn't understand something about your explanation here, I am going with NOT LIKELY A BUG.

The last 3 replays the TE was either running a route, or developed so quickly there was no time to go to progression two.

So wait if what you're saying is actually true then, what's stopping them from doing that in the 3 replays I posted below the initial one? It was a run play and obviously the TE wasn't going out for a pass and they don't slide over toward the WR1.

And I definitely don't think that dots just recognize if it's a run past the line of scrimmage, you see dots in each of those 3 replays make initial steps toward the LOS once the RB gets the ball.

Yeah that is odd. They started moving to WR1 on a running play. I'm not sure vision checks could have caused anything like that. Even if they were set to pass focus, that looks weird.

I believe this depends on the "focus" of the dot and not its vision.

i kinda agree with androth on this, but my opinion isn't strong enough to confirm one way or the other.

i think in the 1st replay they failed their vision checks.
and each time they run the play it gets easier for the defense to pass the vision checks,
so as the game goes on if the opp runs that play a lot, they will get better recognizing it.

thats what i had gathered from similar threads anyhow, but of course i am not the authority on it.

darncat, hit the nail on the head... At least from what I've been able to discern

The first replay is a failed vision check, so they head to the WR, and then they are like - Oh shit, we got fooled

2nd Verification

NOT LIKELY A BUG

Another thing to check might be whether or not the MLB/LOLB are favoring the run/pass/balanced.

Im gonna go ahead and give this a verified. If somebody thinks that it could be, you could disagree and send it up to get looked at by an admin.

that should only affect the vision checks though, right? and that would make it not a bug.

correct.

if they're favored pass, and thus react to the WR1, it would be failed vision checks.

I'm worried though that if they're RUN favored it could be something more intricate.

They're right. The default action is his pass progression, and he'll continue to follow it until he passes the vision check to realize it's a run. It usually won't take as long as it did in that first play, but it happens.
