The East

Washington Wolfpack (5-0) @ Memphis River Rats (3-2)

The undefeated Wolfpack go to Memphis to square off against last season's division champion. Washington has won 10 straight and seeks to make a statement of superiority by defeating Memphis this weak. Memphis, after stumbling twice, seeks to move up in the conference this week.

My Take - I feel the need to predict at least one upset, and this game has the potential to be that sort of game. The River Rats have not played well this season, but I predict a hickup in the Wolfpack gameplan and a few critical turnovers turn this game over to the underdog.
Rats 19, Wolfpack 18

Philadelphia Wolves (5-0) @ Sconnie Badgers (2-3)

The undefeated Wolves (must be something about those particular mammals) look to continue their winning ways. The Sconnie Badgers, a BBB conference champion, look to have their first win against a team over .500.

My take - The Badgers continue to learn why a single "A" is superior to three "B's". Wolves continue on their tear as Kevin Kolb puts up big numbers.

Wolves 24, Badgers 9

Seabrook Energy (1-4) @ Tennessee Fury (4-1)

The Energy, coming off quite a defeat at the hands of LLLL last game seek to get their team on the right track. After a great start despite a very difficult schedule, the Fury seek to continue their pace.

My take - The Energy are outmatched and outgunned. They are only playing for pride on this one, and do manage to score more than last week. In the end, they fall short.

Fury 34, Seabrook 16

Washington Slashers (4-1) @ New England Red Celtics (1-4)

The Red Celtics battle the Slashers at New England. Another example of a playoff team against a team that is fighting to stay in the playoff race. The Celtics do not match up well on this one, and will stumble badly as a result.

My take: Slashers 45, Celtics 13

PTT Villagers (4-1) @ Buffalo Daggers (2-3)

The Villagers take on the Daggers in Buffalo. The Villagers look like a playoff team and potential champion. Buffalo is a bubble team that needs to pull off a few upsets in order to see the playoffs. This one will be closer than you might expect.

My take: Villagers 23, Daggers 15

New Orleans Fanboys (3-2) @ Lizard Lick Lizard Lickers (3-2)

The high-flying Fanboys meet the LLLL in this Eastern matchup of the week. The Fanboys seek to establish the legitimacy of their status as a playoff team behind a balanced offense while the Lickers stifling defense is sure to give them fits. This game will show that the Fanboys are a good team, but are far from elite.

My take: LLLL 20, Fanboys 6

Viridian Vanguards (2-3) @ Dearborn Bullitt (0-5)

No need for an in depth writeup on this one. Viridian will get back to .500 with this one and Bullitt will continue to look for their first win.

Vanguards 23, Bullitt 7

Langley Raptors (1-4) @ Jacksonville Demon Sweat (0-5)

The Raptors meet the Demon Sweat in a surprisingly good matchup. The Demon Sweat will need for a couple defensive players to show up in order to defeat the Raptors as they struggle to stave off elimination. If the Raptors defeat the Demon Sweat, they likely can lose out and still avoid elimination, so this is a critical game for their team as well.

Raptors 27, Demon Sweat 19

Just some random thoughts while I don't have anything better to do...

Huskers Illustrated Bugeaters (4-1) @ Richey Royals (5-0)
- I'm really looking forward to see the outcome of this game. The Huskers are hungry to get another win streak going. Richey has one of the best pass defenses in the league with 143 yards allowed per game and one measly TD allowed through the air. The Huskers will likely try to use their high powered passing attack to try and win this one. The Royals have yet to be tested this season so it should be a good one. I respect both teams, but something has to give here. Royals over the Bugeaters 30-20.

San Diego Demolition (4-1) @ Mentone Beach Assault (3-2)
- Mentone had a great squad last season and we were fortunate to come away with a 13-3 win. Our meeting this season could be even closer. They have upgraded at many of their positions and look strong. I expect our defense to show up and shut down their running game. The question is, can we break through their line and slow their pass game down. Who picks against their own team, seriously? The Demolition refuse to look ahead to the Week 6 matchup against Richey and move on with a win 24-16.

Aurora Seminoles (0-5) @ Barbarian Horde (4-1)
- Not much to say here. The Seminoles, still in a building phase, meet up with the best regular season team from Season 2. Horde roll 42-0.

Chicago Hedgehogs (3-2) @ Austin Beavers (2-3)
- On paper this one looks like it could be a good game. The Hedgehogs look hungry for a playoff berth and have a balanced offense. If they can slow down the Beavers run game they will be one step closer. The battle of the mid-majors goes to Chicago in a nail biter 21-17.

Cleveland Elves (2-3) @ New Brunswick Scarlet Knights (3-2)
- Cleveland has had a rude introduction to the A6 West this season. It doesn't get any easier this week as they head to R-Block Stadium to face the Scarlet Knights. Both teams have great chemistry, but New Brunswick is packing one of the league's stingiest defenses. "Say hello to my little friend"...the Knights go big through the air 31-9.

Spokane Dream (1-4) @ Denver Shockers (3-2)
- Spokane has had one up and many downs this early season. They surprised a team that shouldn't have lost to them in the Demolition, but have failed to show up for their other games. They go on the road this week to face a Shockers team that has bulked up over the off season. Their superstar Zach Mathyssen proves to be too much for the weak rush defense of the Dream. Denver uses the thin air to their advantage and wins 19-6.

Colorado Ice (0-6) @ Coos Bay Black Chickens (2-3)
- I wish I had something good to say about the Ice jester, I really do. You guys get to look forward to next season...there's something. A mysterious power outage during the night game at Coos Bay allows the Black Chickens to run wild. They roll 59-6.

Death Valley Grave Diggers (2-3) @ Oklahoma City Strikers (2-3)
- Easily the toughest pick of all the games this week. Both of these teams have the potential to reach the playoffs and both of them are still seeking their early season identity. Oklahoma City comes off a solid Season 2 with disappointing results so far in Season 3. They need a key win to get them back on track. The Grave Diggers have something to prove after making a strong showing in last season's playoffs. Both teams have a talented QB and WR core, but only the Strikers can boast a balanced offense. On the other hand, the Grave Diggers have had the tougher schedule and are the more experienced team. The defense that shows up wins this one in the game of the week. Death Valley edges out Oklahoma in their house 19-16.

Good luck to everyone. I'm sure at least half of the teams listed above hope I'm wrong

That would certainly lend credence to the "home field avantage" theory, since Nimitz has turned the ball over so few times in his career... oh, who am I kidding. That's as good of an analysis as it gets.

All those picks look good this week, only two games really in doubt imo (ours and the LLLL/Fanboys matchup). I've got you going 6-2 out of spite .

"Viridian Vanguards (2-3) @ Dearborn Bullitt (0-5)

No need for an in depth writeup on this one. Viridian will get back to .500 with this one and Bullitt will continue to look for their first win.

Vanguards 23, Bullitt 7"

I sure as hell hope so

Nice work ops. I was a little too drunk last night and figured It'd be best if I just waited until this morning. Looks great although I think the game with us and Richey will come down to TO's and field posession.

I feel for you (but wish we played you )

Its tough to take over a gutted team. In a perfect world, gutted teams would have the option to be relegated to the lowest level in a region on the "gutting" season is over. As it stands, the new owner and any players he manages to sign have to suffer through an embarrassing season.

Nice write-up Ops, I pretty much agree with everything you said. Oklahoma and Death Valley is easily the tough pick of the week. Richey looks to extend their win streak I think they will be too much for the Bugs.

Hordes got a tough game this week they might make it thru by the skin of their teeth
